Mathers, Marky Bass, Jeff Bass, Mel Man.
Engineers include: Blumpy, Aaron Lepley, Alan Mason.
THE SLIM SHADY LP won the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. "My Name Is" was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance.
You'll need a well-developed sense of humor to fully appreciate the debut of Eminem a.k.a. Slim Shady. Produced by hip-hop super-producer Dr. Dre and released on Dre's Aftermath Records, the album features an infectious lead single, "My Name Is," a winning mixture of alternative rock and rap. One listen will have you hooked on the chorus, but future plays will reveal the lyrical gymnastics that Eminem kicks out so effortlessly.
Obsessed with fantasies of sex, violence, drugs and a general depraved indifference to life itself, Eminem's alter ego Slim Shady is constantly involved in a battle of good vs. evil leavened by a high degree of irony. You'll need a few listens to absorb everything that Eminem is about lyrically. SLIM SHADY might offend the faint-hearted, but that's probably Eminem's intention.

- Good Album...but

Admittedly, this is not an album for the faint of heart. Even the edited version contains some foul language and questionable subject matter.

But please, Eminem is not to be taken too seriously. He is darkly comedic. If dark comedy is offensive to you, don't buy the album.

On the other hand, the lyrics are clever, the beats rock solid, and the production spectacular.

- really good!

this cd was really good, but the editing could have been just a tad better. ive listened to the unedited too and i like it better, but then thats just me. i recomend the unedited before this one, but for all of those with "virgin ears" this is the one for you. the soneg are great, and eminem is really good at letting the rap roll smoothly off of his tounge, i love this cd, its REALLY good!

- Big Waste: Distracting, Humor Lost

I am no doubt a big Eminem fan---I happen to own all of his albums. But I really think that the producers should've refrained from releasing "clean" versions of the album mainly because the songs lose its great rhythm. We all know that his lyrics are laden with unprintable expletives all over. So, expectedly, every other word is censored, and having all those short silent spaces or blurred sounds in between words are just so distracting and enough to give the listener a big headache.

Also, some of Enimen's witty humor is lost in the clean version. Perfect cases in point are that of "My Name Is" and "Guilty Conscience." Try to listen both to the explicit and the clean versions and you'll know what I mean.

If you're thinking of buying the Slim Shady LP, just buy the explicit version instead. If you're too young and impressionable to buy it, then I suggest that you wait a few years until you're old enough. Enimen talks about pretty heavy stuff on the realities of life in his own unique and well, "un-mainstream" way, which definitely requires a very mature and critical way of thinking.

- One of the best rappers

Eminem has really put together a good album. From 97 Bonnie and Cllydeto Come On Everybody. He goes from a killer to a dance song in this album. If I were a parent though I would not buy this album for my kid. It doesn,t really matter if you buy the edited anyway because you can understand the swear words in it. The editing wasn't done that well.

- Awesome cd!

Buy this cd if you can take the jokes...if you cant get the explicit lyrics one then get the edited one. It is great. The editing is kind of a cruddy job but you can still tell what hes saying without a problem. Slim Shady LP was indeed worth the money I payed for it!
