Ying Yang Twins Album: “United State of Atlanta [PA]”
Description :
Personnel include: Ying Yang Twins; Free , Jacki-O , Adam Levine, Lil Jon, Lil Scrappy, Mike Jones , Missy Elliott, Pitbull , Anthony Hamilton, Avant, BG , Three 6 Mafia, Teedra Moses, Homebwoi, Da Muzicians, Countrie Biggz, Anwar, Bun B, Busta Rhymes. <p>Like Outkast, the Ying Yang Twins are progenitors of southern hip-hop that's a mix of gangsta rap, party jams, and jittery beats, and on UNITED STATE OF ATLANTA the Ying Yang Twins approach the game like a house party thrown in a recording studio. For starters, the wide variety of guests popping up throughout this 70-minute-plus project adds a feeling of randomness, recklessness, and fun. Neo-soul crooner Anthony Hamilton provides some honeyed vocals on the gospel-flavored "Long Time," and Maroon 5's Adam Levine holds his own on the electro-funk of "Live Again," with its nod to the travails of exotic dancers. There's also plenty of support from Dirty South brethren such as Mike Jones & Mr. Collipark (on "Badd"), and tough gal Jacki-O (on the DMX-flavored "Hoes"). The interspersed skits comment on a range of topics: "We at War" touches on the seriousness of America's foreign policy, while things get quite a bit raunchier on bits like "Sex Therapy 101," "102" and "103."

- I am begging you...

Please do not buy this album, if you are new to rap...

I do not see why anyone with any knowledge of Hip Hop as a whole would even consider purchasing it. It was hardly worth my time, and I downloaded it. If you are new to rap, a nice place to start out would be 2Pac's greatest hit's, or if you want something a little more lyrical I suggest " Liquid Swords ", or " Grandmasters " Maybe even " Revolutionary VOL. 1 by immortal tecnique.

But if you just love your su=outhern rap, there is still a laundry list of CD's to pick up before this Make sure and check out " Get Ya mind correct " Which is probably one of the most slept on Dirty South Classic's. Word Of Mouf is excellent too.

If you are so desperate to get a yin yang twin's album though, don't get this crap. Get me & My Brother ( which is much better than this ) And also check out some of there compilation's with one of the best producer's from the south Lil Jon, and what's happenin with Trick Daddy is a great song.

- i wouldve rated it lower if i couldve

Ying Yang Twins are a disgrace to hiphop. Not only do they sound bad, their lyrics are about as stupid as it can get. To see rappers like them going on and making it, really appalls me. They should pay us millions to have to live with music like that. They do have a gift though; to put out cds that sound worse than the last one.

- Dork music

Ok, booty rap was good in the 90's, when it was offensive and raunchy like, 2 live crew, Disco Rick and The Dogs, Poison clan etc.....But this is just wack weak lyrics, corny typical krunk beats that start all sounding the same....And is it just me are these guys as rappers, just horrible there voices all raspy, and annoying and one the guy's from the groups always does that annoying shout thing in interviews like hahhhhherrrrrr.....( what is he on crack or something)So if you like radio friendly, pretty boy music then the Ying Yang twins are for you peace....

- Devious diversity...great effort!

The Ying Yang Twins aren't known for profound lyrics. They're best known for club-banger tracks, their trademark howls into the mic, shouting "Hahn!" and growling incessantly. In other words, their beats are crunk and they make it to the top of the charts.

But U.S.A finally breaks the tradition of mindless crunk. Now, don't get me wrong. I love crunk music. But many people are turned off by it due to the fact that the lyrics are often repetetive and simplistic, and that whole albums end up being buyable only because they have good beats. The ying yang twins, whose lyrics were more often about sex than not, weren't that different.

The first half of the album features the most diverse songs the twins have ever done. Live Again is about the dejection and hard life of strippers (still a sex theme, but hey); Long Time is a religious song featuring a gospel-esque beat you'd never expect from the twins. The second half of the album is more about crunk beats and what you'd expect from the twins' albums. Hoes and Put that Thang Down are awesome, and The Walk is pure crunk. U.S.A is a ying yang fan's anthem. My Brother's Keeper, inversely, sounds like a love song; it's R&B you REALLY wouldn't expect to see on their album, and I don't like it that much, but then again, I'm not much of an R&B fan. Wait and Pull my Hair are hilarious sex crunk sounds...a new sound of crunk that's light and sensual, that gets you, as they say, in the mood for "bedroom boom." That song, incidentally, sounds exactly as it should...bedroom crunk. It's not party music, but it's still crunk and I love it.

If you're close-minded to diversity, then don't check this album out. It's NOT another Me and My Brother. It's a diverse, brilliant effort by the Ying Yang Twins. Their lyrics actually speak about important subjects now, such as the importance of staying in school, having God in your life etc... Their crunk, in general, is lighter, smoother, sexier almost. Put that Thang Down is typical Lil Jon crunk, but in general their sound is more about the sensual than the wild, like crunk the guys AND ladies can move to anytime. Their new subject matter paves a new path for the Ying Yang Twins. Buy this album. You may be surprised, but I think you'll like it. I was disappointed at first, but it grew inordinately on me. This is beautiful. Buy it, play it, live it, live again.

- What?

How can people call this music all it is is people screaming yeah, okay, and what. That's just dumb. The stupid sex class skits are really dumb and useless. This album looks good but don't be fooled this is not music so buy something else.
