Not a Wu-Tang group album proper, SOUNDTRACKS FROM THE SHAOLIN TEMPLE is instead a tasty compilation, spanning 2005-08. The 21-deep tracklist features work from every living clan member (R.I.P. Ol' Dirty) as well as a slew of Wu affiliates and underground guests. Ras Kass, Sean Price, Jedi Mind Tricks, Lord Jamar, C-Rayz Walz, Hi-Tek, and Vast Aire of Cannibal Ox are among the non-Wu guests.

I have been a Wu-Tang fan from day one and have been disappointed with what the camp has distributed the last couple of years. I picked up this album anticipating that it would be along the same lines of random put together material that I would not be interested in. To my surprise, this album takes it back to the original Wu that I remember in the 90's. There are a couple of songs that a Wu head would recognize that have been released previously, but overall, this is a great album. The production is on point and the lyricism definitely trumps 90% of the BS that is heard today. If you are a Wu-Fan you will appreciate this one. Sorry I have not listened to this in a while, but I was not disappointed with what I remember. |
