The first word that comes to mind when listening to Surface The Vessel is "gorgeous." The album exudes an amount of delicacy and grace, and the laughable part about the whole endeavor is that William previously hailed from harder bands such as Between The Buried And Me and Hopesfall. So what accounted for such a dramatic change to the much more lighthearted singer-songwriter world? This batch of songs was written as a testament to his new experiences of being a father. An artist himself, William probably had a say in the album artwork. Printed on grey watercolor paper and tri-folded, the album has only two text panels, and the artwork offers a feeling of refinement William's music does not lack.
