Disco de Warren G: “The Return of the Regulator [PA]”
Descripción (en inglés) :
Personnel includes: Warren G (rap vocals, drums); El DeBarge, Ms. Toi, Nate Dogg, Mista Grimm, Soopafly, Butch Cassidy, WC, Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, Boss Hogg, Damone, Lady Mo, Kokane, George Clinton (vocals); Marlon Williams, Mike Elizondo (guitar); Craig Brockman, Scott Storch, Ron Feemster (keyboards); Andrew Gouche (bass); Melissa, Val Young, Tray Black (background vocals).
Producers include: Warren G, Dr. Dre, Soopafly.
Engineers include: Booker T. Jones, Warren G, Mauricio "Veto" Iragorri.
Recorded at G-Factory and Record One, Los Angeles, California.
West Coast rapper Warren G has had mixed luck since "Regulate," his first hit back in 1994, but as this album's title hints, he's back on form here, with a superb mix of romantic rhyming and gangsta rapping. He reunites with original 213 bandmates Snoop Dogg and Nate Dogg on the decidedly old-school "Yo' Sassy Ways," while George Clinton makes an appearance on "Speed Dreamin'," a heady mix of P-Funk and West Coast rap. "Young Locs Slow Down" is a warning to would-be gangstas that their lifestyle won't last long, while "It Ain't Nothing Wrong With You," where G's joined by Boss Hogg and Butch Cassidy, is a litany of X-rated romantic conquests. There's a sentimental recollection of his roots on "Ghetto Village," set to the tune of Stevie Wonder's "Village Ghetto Land," while El DeBarge contributes his typically sensual, romantic vocals to the album's final cut, "Keepin' it Strong."

- Warren G is capable of more

To keep it real, I bought this album and returned it the same day. Warren G is at his best when puts out mellow, laid back beats and laces them with simple, but catchy rhymes. This album is full of bouncy beats, and the flows don't really ride the beats well. I though reuniting with mista grimm would be a good idea, but it wasn't used right, and George Clinton doesn't belong here. This album was made for a particular west coast type of fan, and not really intended for hip hop fans in general. warrens best was his first, and take a look over your shoulder was tight too, I still don't know why people hated on his second album. That album was tight. His third, I want it all, was okay, but you could notice a bit of a decline, and this one just dropped his status. His next album, the g files:code 213 should get him back on track though, as I heard he is taking it back to his roots. That should drop sometime this summer, 2003.

- Return of G-Funk? Not quite.

Yo, first of all, I am one of the biggest Warren G fans out there. I have all of his first three cds, and the only flaw I found was on, "I Want It All". There was to many cameos. Once again that is the big problem with 'Return..' I listen to Warren G for his flow. I loved his layed back, mellow voice and the way he uses it to rhyme. That is why I do not like alot of cameos on his cds, I want to hear more of Warren. And this cd lacks what he is famous for, G-FUNK. I only heard 2 songs that had original G-Funk beats. The rest sounded like Dr.Dre beats. I recomend buying this if you like to hear the G-Child. But do not expect another Regulate...G Funk Era, or you will be dissapointed.

- Below Par 4th effort -- possibly 3.5 stars

The king of G-Funk delivers his 4th solo album and his worst to date. It is still a pretty good album overall but his previous 3 were better. It has it's highpoints but also a few below par songs that bring the overall quality down. Warren G produces every song but 2, they're produced by Dr. Dre, and Soopafly. Every song except 1 (much like "I Want it All") features at least one person. It has 3 ok songs, and 3 that I skip, with the others being good, not great songs. If you're a fan pick it up but his other albums are better.

- 5 Star classic

Warren G has done it again. Warren's production on this album is top notch. He also gets a little help from Dre behind the boards on the first single, "Lookin at You". Other notable tracks are the Soopafly produced "Somethin to Bounce To", the George Clinton assisted "Speed Dreamin", and the 213 reunion track "Yo Sassy Ways". This album rivals his debut and is easily his best album since. Definitely a must have.

- Da Regulator Returns!

Da regulator returns G-Funk style! A wee bit better than I Want It All & a total class above Take A Look Over Your Shoulder, Warren G takes me back to the days when he asked if i could see what he saw, and when Nate hit da eastside of the LBC on a mission tryin' to find him, in so many ways. That'z all i gotta say, G-Funksterz!
