Disco de UGK: “Side Hustles Featuring UGK [PA]”
Descripción (en inglés) :
UGK: Pimp C, Bun B.
Additional personnel includes: Scarface, Smitty, Sonji, Rob Jackson, Celly Cel, Too Short, Pimp C, Mil, E-40, B-Legit.
Producers include: Ty Fyffe, Gavin Marchand, Organized Noize, Melvin Coleman, Studio Ton.
Compilation producer: Chaz Harper.
This Dirty South duo talks about sporting "alligator shoes with the belts to match" on the opening track of SIDE HUSTLES, making it clear from the start that they're all about the pimp/gangsta lifestyle. Pimp C and Bun B have been around the block long enough to qualify as OG's; SIDE HUSTLES marks their tenth anniversary as recording artists, and the album shows the skills and experience they've gained along the way. The slow, funky beats and hearty, soulful raps that have always been a trademark are found in abundance here, bolstered by plenty of production smarts and just the right touch of gangsta attitude for the hardcore faithful.

- Not UGK's fifth album

Bun B has the best delivery and flow in rap. This cd is super tight like their second cd. Bun got skills, and Pimp C spit that pimp game like no other. My favorite tracks are The Corruptor, Dirty,Dirty, Belts To Match, and All About It. The only drawback is that its some songs that Jive Records slapped together on a cd to make a quick buck since UGK moves at least 300,000 units every time it comes out and they were slapped together. All the songs were featured on other artists cds and are hard to find. One of the songs is 6 years old. However, the songs are tight, they just don't fit together as tight as a UGK album that Bun B and Pimp C works on. This is more like a "Greatest featuring UGK Hits cd." Their real next album will either be called UGK V or Ridin' Platinum.

- Good Collabo's featuring UGK - R.I.P. Pimp C

Maybe the tightest group from the south (Close with Eightball & MJG) comes with their "5th" cd. It's about equal with their "Dirty Money" album, not as good as "Super Tight" or "Ridin' Dirty" (one of my all time favorite albums). Every song on here has guests except the last one, the remix of "Pocket Full Of Stones". Of the 11 songs, Bun B is on 10 and Pimp C is on 8. Producers are different on every song except Pimp C produces 2 of the songs. There is no weak track and no classic, about 2 or 3 are average and the rest are good. A Must have CD for UGK fans if you don't have a lot of the songs on here already.

A few songs I'd have liked to see on here are:

- Sippin on Some Sizzurp w/ 3-6 mafia

- Akickdoe! w/ C-Murder & Master P

- Murder Man Dance w/ Spice 1

- Thug Thang -- Spice 1, Pimp C, Black C

- On Da 1 -- Bun B, Big Mike & ...

#1 - 8.5 (UGK f/ Sonji)

#2 - 8 (Rob Jackson f/ Bun B)

#3 - 8.5 (UGK & Scarface -- off Scarface's "Last of a Dying Breed" album)

#4 - 9 (UGK & Mil -- good beat and gangsta song)

#5 - 8 (UGK, B-legit & E-40)

#6 - 8.5 (UGK & Celly Cel -- good beat -- off Celly's "G-Filez" album)

#7 - 8 (UGK, KB, Eightball, Too $hort)

#8 - 7.5 (Bun B, Q of ESC, Marquaze)

#9 - 8 (7 and half minute song by Too $hort f/ Pimp C)

#10 - 7.5 (Mil f/ Bun B (he does the hook)

#11 - 8.5 (remix of Pocket Full Of Stones)

BUN B -- Bernard Freeman -- b. 1973 -- Port Arthur, TX

PIMP C -- Chad Butler -- b. 12/73 - d. 12/4/07 -- Port Arthur, TX

- Side Hustles= UGK, s lost tapes

Even though this a compilation of songs they did on other people's album or on soundtracks its still bumpin. Standout Tracks: BELTS TO MATCH(The Wood soundtrack), BREAKIN SKETTI(Rob Jackson was snappin right along with Bun B), THEY DOWN WITH US(Scarface's Last Of A Dying Breed), DIRTY DIRTY(Pimp C and Bun B stole the show), CIGARETTES(crazy), THE CORRUPTOR'S EXECUTION(The Corruptor Soundtrack), POP THE TRUNK(Celly Cel's G Filez), ALL ABOUT IT(dynamite matchup with PimpC and Too Short plus Pimp C is getting better and better with the production) and POCKET FULL OF STONES(throwback with a minor twist). Filler: We Big Mane is the only weak track on here. Bottom Line: Side Hustles is a dope collection that should be a part of any UGK fans' collection. I've heard most(with the exception of four songs)of those tracks and I think they're straight.

- Breakin Sketti Playa

This cd is hella tight. I only heard a couple cuts and I'd still buy it just for that. Breakin Sketti has some tight middle eastern beats and some smooth flows. Basically, buy this cd, or if your po folk, download some tracks and find out what down south music really is. Ya heard me?
