Trick Daddy Album: “Thug Matrimony: Married to the Streets [Edited]”
Description :
Personnel include: Trick Daddy; Deuce Komradz, Dirtbag, Jazze Pha, Ludacris, Money Mark, Ron Isley, Smoke, Tampa Tony, Trina, Twista, Ying Yang Twins, Young Jeezy, Kase 1, Trey Songz, Cee-Lo.
Recording information: 2004.
In the middle of "I Wanna Sang," Trick Daddy muses about how he "started off with a poem and turned it into a song." The track, off his sixth record, THUG MATRIMONY, is a sweet song of hope akin to Nas's "I Can;" it's infused with a gentleness certainly at odds with Trick Daddy's harsh, thuggish image, but this contrast and complexity is not unusual for the Miami rapper.
Considering his millions of records sold and his crossover airplay, Trick Daddy is sometimes overlooked as an immense talent and deep thinker. THUG MATRIMONY, however, may just be his STANKONIA. Stylistically, the record unfolds in a playful and highly unpredictable manner. Many of the samples are comfortably familiar, but twisted into unusual shapes, as Trick Daddy lets loose his steady, natural flow with powerful, provocative lines and an understated manner (in the vein of Mos Def). Even the bouncing, dance-floor-ready "Let's Go" (with Lil Jon & Twista) features a surreal Ozzy Osbourne sample from "Crazy Train" and clever turns of phrase, in addition to the requisite chanted hook. Trick Daddy was already quietly ahead of the game for years, and, with THUG MATRIMONY, he reaches a new level of artistry.

- PiMpIn!!

I am sick and tired of people slammin people that take old rock and other types of music and add uptodate beats and lyrics...grow up you worthless turd... " Nice job of stealing, January 28, 2005

Reviewer: rocker81 "rock n blues fan" (Dallas GA) - See all my reviews

the song "Crazy Train" from Ozzy Osbourne you talentless

manufactured hack. Go get some skills and write your OWN

stuff. It's sad these guys don't even have enough talent

to come up with their own stuff. If stupid people wouldn't

make this guy famous he'd be a homeless bum on the side

of the street.

And before you go on about Ozzy appproving that song. He

is just looking for money these days and it isn't his tar

riff anyway.... It's Randy Rhoades and he's dead. I have

my doubt that he'd approve. And that's only part of the

point anyway. COME UP WITH YOUR OWN STUFF. .."

you moron...Actually Ozzy owens all rights to it...also...plenty of people take music and update it...thats why its music...You FREAKING SHMUCK DIE AND GO TO HELL!

- Good Album

I like that song Let's Go even though a lot of people are hating on it because they don't like the Ozzy sample to be in a rap song and I respect that but it sounds good on the song though. Anways decent album from Trick Daddy even though this is second worst album of his career. But that is okay I like how he went with this one. I recommend this to rap fans only because only rap fans can appreciate this and if they don't then f@#k'em let them hate.

- Trick love da kids...

Damn, Trick impressed me with this one... I can't believe some of these low ratings, this is his best front to back album in my opinion. "Let's Go," is a great lead single and "Sugar," is just as good... HIm and Cee-Lo are a great combination, if you haven't heard "In Da Wind" from one of his earlier releases check that out for proof. He brings out the southern big guns with Luda, T.I. Cee Lo, and more, he might not say it but he's more deserving of the "King of the South" title than many who claim it.

- Trick should have divorced himself from this album

You know when Trick Daddy is at his best, you'll get an album like Based On A True Story, WWW.Thug.Com and Book Of Thugs. But when Trick is at his worst you will get Thug Matrimony. The first flaw of the album is that Trick doesnt sound as lively as he did three albums back. The second flaw is the production is weak, the third flaw is some bad guest spots. The Good: F****n Around which features T.I, Young Jeezy and Kase 1 is the best song on here and Trey Songz assists Trick on Aint A Thug as Trick gives it to you raw over a New Edition sample. And despite what you acidhead suburbanites think Let's Go is better than that cheesy rock&roll record its sampled after. The Bad: Gangsta Livin, U Neva Know and Thugs About are superdull filler that will knock you out like Nyquil. I Cry which features Ronald Isley falls short of Thug Holiday(big time!) and Down With The South was a weak way to close out the album, the song being a dead club record and all. The Ugly: Sugar(Gimme Some) is the worst song that Trick has ever made period(yes even worser than I'll Be Your Player). Even though most sex records are usually bad, they're not supposed to be boring and Sugar is boring plus Ceelo sounded like he didnt even want to be there. The remix with Lil Kim was no better. JODD is a failed nasty club record(which features Khia and Tampa Tony) and why anybody would try to bring back Khia instead of letting her fade from our memory like booty-shaking music is beyond me. I Wanna Sing and Children's Song are awful but as bad as they are they are not worser than 4 Eva which features Jazze Pha whose horrific singing is as grating as somebody grinding their teeth. The Field Mob-assisted Menage' Trois takes its number two spot as the worst song on the album. The song is so butt I wont even go into detail. Bottom Line: Thug Matrimony is Trick Daddy's worst effort. The beats were weak and he doesnt as vivid as he used to. Trick fell victim to the laziness that will plague any rapper who is forced to make album after album on the same record label on a tight deadline. I dont blame him any. And you metalhead bums need to get a life. I just seen your idol Ozzy Osbourne kickin' it with the president at his inauguration on Vh1's Top 40 not so metal moments and that's the loser you respect? You're nuts! You stole the whole genre from us so who should be mad at who?
