Disco de Snoop Dogg: “Snoopified - The Best Of [PA]”
Descripción (en inglés) :
It's easy to take Snoop Dogg for granted, especially given the inconsistency of much of his output. It's also easy to forget that he's one of the best MCs in the game, with a delivery so smooth, laid-back, and distinctive that it slides through speaker systems like butter. <p>Although this Capitol collection excludes tracks from Snoop's landmark DOGGYSTYLE album, it still does fans a great service by skimming the cream from his four albums released between 1998 and 2002. There are plenty of highlights, including the smooth Neptunes-produced R&B throwback, "Beautiful," and several tracks from Snoop's brief enlistment in Master P's No Limit army. Even the less stellar material, filled with funk-drenched jams and Snoop's inimitable flow, is hard to resist, making it a good bet for those seeking an overview of Snoop's turn-of-the-millennium albums.

Do I have to ask the obvious question? Well......do I? Where are the tracks from "Doggystyle"??? Where are his BEST known songs??? I know this probably has something to do with label issues, but c'mon. Having a "Best Of" from Snoop Dogg without the "Doggystyle" tracks, is like Dr. Dre having a "Greatest Hits" without anything from "The Chronic"! Maybe this should have been called "Best of the Priority Years" instead. On the positive side there's still some dope tracks here, but I gots to have my "Gin And Juice". Bow-wow-wow.

- Not What the Title Promises

Okay, first let me just say I understand that this is a collection of Snoop's material ranging from 1998 through 2002 (his days on the No Limit label). I also understand that crafting a greatest hits album is never an easy task. Everyone has their personal favorites and not every good track can make the final cut.

The thing is, greatest hits albums are designed for the casual fan. For someone who likes the artist's music, but doesn't want to shell out the cash for all the albums. So, the question in determining whether or not you have a winning compilation is not would it satisfy the hardcore fans, but would it satisfy someone who just wants the best of the best. This "best of" collection would not.

If the album had been titled, "The Best of Snoop Dogg's No Limit Years" or "Snoop Dogg: 1998-2002", I think I would take less issue with it's release. But the fact is, this title is just misleading to the customer. Snoop's "biggest" hits almost all came from his Death Row days but you won't find "What's My Name?", "Gin & Juice" or "Doggy Dogg World" here. Hell, even "My Heart Goes Boom," one of the best cuts from the No Limit years is missing.

But enough about what isn't here. Let's talk about what is here. The best song on this compilation is easily "Beautiful" and "The One and Only" is also quite good. But the Stone Cold Steve Austin Theme? What's My Name and Gin and Juice......Part II? Several other songs the casual fan hasn't even heard of?

The bottom line is I don't think someone who just wants the best of Snoop's material should begin here. The prior-released Death Row's Snoop Doggy Dogg Greatest Hits offers more of Snoop's best songs, but also some uneven rarities. I would suggest a casual fan just buy a copy of "Doggystyle." Honestly, it contains most of the best work Snoop has ever done and I think it might be good enough to convince you to listen to what Snoop has produced since. Some of this "Best of" collection may be all right, but if I thought this was truly the Dogg's best work, I wouldn't be too eager to listen to the rest. Do yourself a favor and pass this one by.

- Snoop dogg

First off this is The Best of Snoop Dogg not Snoop Doggy Dogg so of course there won't be any of the old tracks on this. If you want the best of Snoop Doggy Dogg go get Death Row's Snoop Doggy Dogg's Greatest Hits.

Anyway this is for any fan of Snoop it has all his best songs from his No Limit released albums with the hits Lay Low, Still A G Thang, Woof!, B Please, From Tha Chuuuch To Da Palace, Loosen Control, Beautiful, and What's My Name Pt.2 plus plenty of over great songs. With no doubt Snoop Dogg can't compare to the classic Snoop Doggy Dogg but Snoop changed and we can't do anything about it.

Anyway if you are a fan of the new Snoop than this is definitely for you but if you are only a fan of the old snoop than you probably won't like this that much.

After this it's not such a bad idea to get another Snoop album but I would say this is a good place to start your collection.

- Are you all retarded?

They couldn't include any of the Death Row material because that company owns the masters to the recordings and obviously wouldn't hand them over with the bad blood between Suge and Snoop. This is a lame ass collection of his No Limit and Doggystyle recordings. Does no one realize Snoop split with Tha Row in 98?

- "Not To Be Confused With Snoop Doggy Dogg!"

This CD is appropriately titled "The Best Of Snoop Dogg" (not to be confused with the teenager who recorded on Suge Knight's Death Row label...Snoop Doggy Dogg). After I purchased this CD I decided to read the reviews on Amazon.com (as I often do) before I played the disc. The posted reviews were pretty much all negative, and basically for the same reason...none of the Death Row material was included. Well, having previously purchased "Doogy Style" and "Snoop Doggy Dogg: Death Row Greatest Hits" (mostly, I think because of the similarities in the artwork of the 2 CDs) and to be honest there were only two song titles that I was familiar with on "The Best Of Snoop Dogg"..."Lay Low" and "B---h Please" I kind of hesitated on playing my 'new' CD..the negative reviews, really kind of killed my 'Snoop' groove. So when I finally decided to give my new purchase a listen, I was really amazed at how narrow-minded some of the reviewers were, and how many tracks that were on this CD, that I really loved! On the other hand with the exception of "Nuthin' But A 'G' Thang" and "The Vapors" the only recognizable 'hits' on "Death Row" greatest hits were the tracks that were previously released on the "Doggy Style" album. In all fairness, this CD is indeed "The Best Of Snoop Dogg", but if you just got to have Snoop's Death Row material, get "Doggy Style" over "Snoop Doggy Dogg: Death Row Greatest Hits" unless you're an extremely 'MAJOR' Suge Knight fan! If you're a fan of 'Snoop Dogg' (the adult) I really believe that you will appreciate "The Best Of Snoop Dogg".
