Disco de Snoop Dogg: “Ego Trippin [Edited]”
Descripción (en inglés) :
Personnel: Snoop Dogg.
On album number nine, Snoop branches out a bit, assuming executive producer credits and working as one-third of the production team QDT (along with Teddy Riley and DJ Quik). While the production hovers around 1970s R&B, soul, and smoothed-out funk (with conspicuous samples from Marvin Gaye, the Isleys, Brooklyn Dreams, and Prince Phillip Mitchell), there are also a few curious excursions into '80s synth-pop ("Cool") and even country music ("My Medicine"). At the same time, Snoop's lyrics are all over the place. Over the course of the album's 21 tracks, he goes from mega-boasting on his fame and wealth ("Gangsta Like Me," "Staxx in my Jeans") to celebrity name-dropping ("Deez Hollywood Nights") to seductive talk-box crooning ("Sexual Eruption") and groupie-love anthems ("Life of da Party," "Those Gurlz") to bittersweet reminiscing on his rise from the hood ("Can't Say Goodbye") and dedications to his wife and kids ("Been Around tha World"). As the title suggests, EGO TRIPPIN' is all about Mr. Calvin Broadus, and therefore the outing contains just a handful of guest spots from Too Short, Raphael Saadiq, Mistah F.A.B., and Charlie Wilson.
On album number nine, Snoop branches out a bit, taking executive producer credits and working as one-third of the production team QDT (with Teddy Riley and DJ Quik). - A Great Album Befitting the Godfather of Rap

While rap has never been a top favorite of mine (I do like all genres of music though) for some reason or another I don't know why, I have always liked Snoop Dogg. He takes a different approach on this album. Packed with a total of twenty-one tracks. which is a bit excessive, but hey it's Snoop Doggy Dog. It sounds like he has done what prior gangster rappers do when they retire. taking a more mellow and leisurely style approach to the songs. Then again it could be because of all he's been through over the years dodging bullets, rivals and court cases but all along setting the pavement that many rappers walk on today. Maybe with this change you'll find him laying in the Florida sun, instead of walking the streets of Compton or Long Beach in California.

- THE WEST COAST IS BACK

GREAT CD!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe K. Hood "Rayfellet" said it best.

This album is snoops best next to doggy style. It has such an original sound throughout the album. DJ Quik, Snoop and Teddy Riley have made a masterpiece

1. (A Word Witchya!) 5/5 Smooth intro

2. (Press Play) 5/5 So so, funky. Quik did it on this track

3. (SD Is Out) 5/5 Good follow up to press play, HUGE BASS!

4. (Gangsta Like Me) 4/5 classic Snoop, with a twist

5. (Neva Have 2 Worry) 2/5 song gets tired and is a biography song

6. (Sexual Eruption) 4/5 Radio song obviously, Love the Roger Troutman touch with the voice box.

7. (Life of da Party) 3/5 Good bass, Dance cut.

8. (Waste of Time) 5/5 Smooth track, very well produced

9. (Cool) 4.5/5 This a great cover to an epic 80's track

10. (Sets Up) 2/5 Weak track, very repetitive.

11. (Deez Hollywood) 4/5 Classic old scooh sound.

12. (Whateva U do) 5/5 Diss song to many! Good production!

13. (Staxxx In My Jeans)3/5 Gangsta Gangsta, takes me back to Topp Dawg.

14. (Been Around tha world) 5/5 clean bass and a fresh sound.

15. (Let It Out) 4/5 Fun track.

16. (My Medicine) 5/5 SNOOP DONE COUNTRY! It works too!

17. (Ridn In My Chevy) 2/5 Too Dirrrty south for snoop.

18. (Those Gurlz) 5/5 Classic Cali Beat. Sun is shining on this track!

19. (One Chance) 5/5 smooooooooooooth.

20. (Why did you Leave Me) 2/5 Clean track, but very very very whiny.

21. (Can't Say Goodbye) 4/5 Sounds a bit like 2pac's Changes.

All in all this is a smooth album with excellent production. The album as a whole is amazing and creative. When is DJ Quik putting out an Album?
