<p>After his 1987 debut, SWASS, a sparse, witty affair, built a reputation with both critics and discerning hip-hop fans, Sir Mix-a-Lot went supernova on his third effort, MACK DADDY. "Baby Got Back," with its valley girl intro, bass-heavy beat, and earnest ode to women who "pack much back," exploded to become one of the biggest hits of 1992. While the novelty hit certainly gave him a national name, it also pegged him as a lightweight, one-note MC in the Hammer vein. In actuality, the Seattle-area rapper was a far tougher nut to crack, a social poet with a Chuck D. or KRS-One outlook, as well as a playful exhibitionist in the 2 Live Crew manner, backed by a Dre-style P-Funk beat--and MACK DADDY is a far more diverse album than his hit would imply. Opening track "One Time's Got No Case" examines police corruption with force and language to rival N.W.A. or Cypress Hill, while "Mack Daddy" brings the funky swagger with Kool G. Rap bravado.

- The Biggity Bomb Old School
All y'all P. Diddy, Jay-Z, JD, listenin' fools need to check this album. Mix was a pioneer. He was bumpin' the phatty beats from the classis "Swass" when Jay-Z was still watchin schoolhouse rock. No disrespect to the new, but you need to know your roots. This album was Mixalot's huge comeback after the frontier breaking Swass album (and after the not so good Seminar). Baby got back is nothng compared to the Jack Back, Swap Meet Louie, and all the others. This album put Mix back on top with the dopest production that year!!!

- This CD rocks 2 much
The critics underrated this CD when it was released. Baby Got Back is good and so are I`m Your New God and No Holds Barred. Sir Mix-A-Lot writes a commentary into a song better than other rap artists.

- One Of The Better Rap CDs
Most people think "Baby Got Back" is the best song on this album, but i'm under the inpression it's one of the worst. Most the other songs have great flow, potent lyrics that are either wise or hilarious, and aren't halfway as annoying. I honestly bought this album for the song "Lcokjaw", which is probably my favorite song on the album. But all in all, a great alubm. I beleive it was money well spent.
