This CD is great because on most CD's you get sick of hearing the same person's voice over and over, but this has like 20 other rappers on it and they all are good as hell. If you have 20 bucks on ya and you like rap, go get this CD. I find myself listening to it even after 6 months of owning it and that's alot to say about a CD. Venom (Seattle, WA USA) - May 14, 2001 2 of 3 people found the following review helpful: - Real to his Homies Scarface has definately captured the love of the street in this here album. He straight up kept it real with all the homeboys in todays' rap biz. With tracks like "Do what the .... you want to do" All the Homies in the street like me be flockin' to the record store for the fact that be the motto. There is a lot of bad mouthin' goin' on in these reviews, but them folks need to check nuts and realize what has been done here. Scarface dedicates this to Homies in the street, that's real. So much respect goes to the Big Homie Scarface for givin' it up to the street. - Acquaintances Houston, Texas own Scarface returns with another classic showing his versatility as a producer, an artist and a entrepreneur highlighting fellow artist both established and the introduction of up and coming. My Homies is a thirty track release that captures the street life and survival where "Ma Homies" and "Greed" are the only two solo songs featuring Scarface himself. "Ma Homies" contains the formula that fans can appreciate with guitar licks and deep keys to accompany the slow tempo. The Hoodlumz follows the dreams of being a "Hustler" over the one-two punch of the guitar licks. "Do What You Do" features Bushwick Bill, K.B. & B-Legit is a great collaboration of styles over the looped vibes. A hometown anthem with Scarface, Devin & Tela gives different perspectives of "Southside: Houston, Texas" section to be specific. Giving street rules on "Don't Testify" featuring Scarface, FACEMOB & Hoodlumz with the consequences of "...if you don't you live, if you do you die..." and even deeper "Rules 4 Real N!gg*$" featuring Hoodlumz. Taking a clever sample for "Homies & Thuggs (The Remix)" features Scarface, 2pac & Master P as the song takes another tone during 2pac's verse to give it more dimentions and depth also found on "Homies & Thuggs (The Original)". Production by N.O. Joe captures the essence of this LP with deep piano chords on "The Geto" featuring Scarface, Willie D, Ice Cube & K.B. "F*** Faces" featuring Scarface, Too $hort, Tela & Devin is an agressive sexual prowness with a hint of elegance by the production of Scarface & Mike Dean. 3-2, UGK & F.L.A.J. is featured on the slow tempo groove "2 Real" highlighted by high pitched piano tones. Taking another angle of life on "Win Lose or Draw" features spiritual lyrical content from Scarface, Johnny P., DMG & Lo-Ke. Picking up on the album's tempo with "Overnight" featuring Do Or Die, Rock Roc & Snypaz with a bounce touch. The Ghetto Twiinz took excerpts from early Scarface lyrics as the chorus on "Small Time". FACEMOB go back to back on "City Under Siege" and features Scarface on "You Owe Me" highlights My Homies with Mr. Lee's production. Devin takes on a lighter approach over the R&B tone, "Do What You Want" on making decisions made in your life. The nonchalantness of Devin on "Boo Boo'n" is nearly a comedic effort dismissing others is still a good addition none the less. Giving reasons to the thug and or street life is exampled on "In My Blood" featuring Big Mike, DMG & Yukmouth. "Sleeping In My Nikes" featuring Scarface & Seagram shows to always be ready for anything at any given time. "Cocaine" featuring A-G-2-A-Ke is highlighted by the rapid fire flow giving street tales. Devin & K.B give an episode with one goal in mind on "Use Them Ho's". If you appreciate southern gangster rap this is a perfect addition to your collection. As usual Scarface gives you a complete project that you can keep in the deck. - my homies "classic" Its a classic Face album that was slept on back in the day if u had'nt got it or heard by now peep the samples its definetly for your face collection with some old school feel to it |
