- Another dope version of the best album of 2G!

There is no doubt that this is definitely one of my favorite all-time hiphop albums. After all it's going to be up there in terms of being too dope for my own good. Indeed, some of the highlights include the wonderful "Microphone Mathematics" and also "Astro-Travelling" geewhiz the sheer lyricism of the instrumentals and foreign sounding Quas certainly can turn up the heat...

Who is Quas, one may ask? He is certainly an alien as you can see on the cover and the Stones Throw T-shirt who wields a brick and pitchfork. Quas spills the beans on Madlib's personal life (and I can believe that Madlib's dad was a criminal) in a vague turnaround manner, very much the antithesis of the all too real Illmatic or Ready To Die autographical rap albums. Definitely, Quas goes through himself in vague planes of existences whether it be wack MC-murderers (I doubt that the cute looking Quas would literally kick butt of another g) in the traditional old school battle mode or loop digging... the sheer encyclopedia of breaks as mentioned in the song about loop digging (they even drop the original titles of the samples including the phrase Holy Thursday from David Axelrod)... and jazz music where it educates the rap listener about the real roots of rap and it ain't gangsta...

Strangely enough this album and Madlib's production prove why West Coast production can kill East Coast in terms of not selling out and compromising the quality of good rap at all... Quas will live 4-ever! and peace out...

Beat Detective

ps the instrumental is definitely worth having especially considering that there are slight revisions and changes from the other album. Support Quas you fronters!
