LATE NIGHT SPECIAL is the sophomore release from Miami R&B/hip-hop quartet Pretty Ricky. Comprising four brothers, and distinguished by no-holds-barred lyrics and raunchy subject matter, Pretty Ricky deliver more of the slinky, dirty grooves that dominated their debut, BLUESTARS. The smooth vibe of "On the Hotline," an ode to phone sex, is a case in point, but there are plenty of more uptempo grinds as well, providing a full complement of wild, hormonally charged urban R&B.

Depending on what you wanted to hear depends on which content you bought. If you brought the Explict verison of course you are going to hear something that deals with sex on every song. Duh. These guys are 21 what else would they be sing about. If you wanted to hear something more soothing and less about sex buy the clean version. As Baby blue said " the clean is for songs about love and being in love, the expicit is for making love"

Drop whatever you're doing, jump in your car, and buy this album immediately. The longer you delay doing this, the longer your life will be meaningless and empty. This album is haunting, uplifting, magical, and as close to perfection as anything could ever be. The new masterpiece by Pretty Ricky is so much more than "candy for the ears" and is sure to go down in history as one the most celebrated musical marvels of our time .
If I may be so bold, I predict that the release of this album will undoubtedly restore social tranquility in the Mideast and other war torn nations, and decimate the current state of arrested economic growth, not just within the U.S., but for all nations.
After listening to " Late Night Special" the listener will without question be left reeling in a blissful state of bewilderment for hours. This album also raises two very crucial questions. 1) Was the album produced/mixed by a higher deity? 2) Are the fellas of pretty Rick mere mortals? Well, Yes and No is all you need to know. Further exploration into this topic is far beyond the grasp of human comprehension.
Songs such as "Up and Down" can only be described as emotionally super-charged power love ballads, while "So confused" beautifully orchestrates sounds that will leave the listener weeping for hours.
"Late Night Special" is definitely the groups magnum opus and is unmatched by other so called musical masterpieces from the past. This is hands down the most unrivaled and exquisite musical creation on the face of the earth.

- Late NIght Special
Pretty Ricky was pretty much inspired by Jodeci and Usher to record this hot album. This album is very sensual and sexual at the same time. I love this album. This album seems destine to surpass their previous success. The growth and maturity of their lyrics, production, and vocals, coupled with their innate ability to connect with virtually any market that shows the diversity and expansion of these superstars. Forget everything else on the menu-This group is your one and only LATE NIGHT SPECIAL.

- Overall a very solid sophomore release
I think that Pretty Ricky has done a better job on this album as far as discussing more versaltile subjects besides sex although its pretty much the underlying meaning of the album. Tracks such as "so confused" talk about being in love with someone who is taken. "Make it like it was" talks about the age old subject of never truly getting over your first love. The album opener "Late Night Special" is one of my personal favorites. It immedaitely sets the tone for the album and lets you know exactly who you are listening to. I could do without the song "personal trainer". I prefer the fast paced up beat "go getta" on the edited version. This is one of those things you either love or hate. If the sexual lyrics arent your thing you'll probably hate the album but if you like that kind of thing or can get past them you'll find yourself enjoying the album. I know I did. Although I did find the edited version a little more easy on the ears as far as them toning down their sexual lyrics but thats just my opinion

- The Pretty Ricky Brothers sophmore motto: If it aint broke don't fix it
I was pleasantly surprised about the sophomore album, of the group Pretty Ricky. I was feeling this album's first single "On The Hotline", and decided to pick up the album. I was afraid that it was going to be just some teenage boy band trash, that has a few catchy songs; which is the reason why I didn't pick up their first album originally. This in my opinion was far from it. In an interview, the Miami based group, mentioned how they didn't want the record label, Atlantic Records, to change the essence of who they were. They used their own money to produce this album, in order to use the same people, that made their first album a moderate success. I think they made a wise choice in this decision.
This album gave me a late 80's to mid 90's boy group vibe, which I didn't mind at all. I might be alone in this comparison, but i dare to say even a today's Jodeci vibe, with the exception of rap verses. This vibe was visible especially in songs, like "Stay", "Late Night Special", "Make It Like It Was." They again make, the r&b and rap flow seamlessly together in each song. I would have liked to have seen them switch it up a little, and not have everybody do a a rap verse on every song. Maybe on a few songs have it just rap or just r&b, because even though Marcus "Pleasure" Cooper, is the primary R&B singer of the group, I believe they all have the ability to sing, or at least carry a tune. But as their motto seems to be, on this album, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
The only song I didn't care for was the raunchy "Personal Trainer", which wasn't necessarily for this album. Nothing sexy about this song at all, and also seemed like a bad version of Kanye West "The New Workout Plan." My favorites being "Stay" and "Honey." Another one of my favorite's of this album was, "So Confused", which featured Butta Cream, one of their new artist off their Bluestar label, which they claim is the girl version of Pretty Ricky. Anyway, I'm not embarrasedto say they made a fanfrom this man ; i'm not saying that I'll be wearing the free T-shirt, that came with my CD, but i will bump the cd.
