Personnel: Pretty Ricky; Coop (keyboards); Pleasure (background vocals); Diamond, Slick , Spectacular, Static Major.
<p>Recording information: 2005.
<p>"Get You Right," a smooth throwback ballad from Miami outfit Pretty Ricky's debut, BLUESTARS, features a hardcore rap that name-checks 1990s groups H-Town and Jodeci. While the four youthful brothers of Pretty Ricky were likely in grade school when these artists had their hits, it's a fitting reference; the quartet's sound reveals an innate feel for the New Jack Swing sound of that time. This approach is evident in both the record's production and its raw sensuality, and the overall vibe is updated with a Dirty South sensibility.
<p>Pretty Ricky features three rappers--Slick, Spectacular, and Diamond--augmented by the resonant voice of Pleasure, whose alluring style falls somewhere between Stevie Wonder and R. Kelly. The subject matter of BLUESTARS tends toward that of the latter (but often hints at the depth of the former), moving from seductions sweet and innocent ("I Want You [Girlfriend]") to raw and lascivious ("Grind with Me") to a combination of the two ("Playhouse," "Can't Live Without You"). Pretty Ricky effortlessly creates soulful music that defies any one time or genre on this impressive debut.

- I'ma tell you right now...
This album is not for you if:
1. You don't have a freaky side to you
2. Even if you don't have that much if a freaky side you still need to be an objective person that's open to new things
3. If you not really into rap or just straight r&b, or whatever
This album is great for a debut album. Yes, most of the album is about sex, but "if you can't...take...the heat...get...out...the kitchen!!!" (y'all know where that came from) lol.
Seriously though, sex is what I expected on this album when I first heard Grind With Me. These guys are marketed towards teenage girls, not grown women. This is a c.d. that will get you in the mood very quickly. It has a raw-sexy style to it. And then there's 2 songs that'll get you crunk like Grill 'Em (my fav. track by the way) and Chevy. And then there are songs (not too many) that you can actually listen to with your parents like Girlfriend and Can't Live Without You.
I love the entire c.d. but I'd say the top 5 songs on this cd are:
Grill 'Em
Get Alittle Closer
Your Body
Juicy
Get You Right
If you are the opposite of those 3 things that I stated above, this c.d. is definitely for you

- PRETTY* AMAZING
I don't know if the Little Ricky crew is reading all of these love notes on here from all these b*tches but more power to them if they are. Anyway, this album is hot. They have a tight sound for this day and age where R&B and Hip Hop are always blending together to make club hits. Pretty Ricky's style is like an R.Kelly song with Fabolous rapping in it. Real smooth beats with singing hooks and rapping for verses. Very interesting to make an entire CD with this flow but it works and I like it. Every song is similar to "Grind with me" and thats a solid track. Similar not that it sounds the same ,which would be a bad thing, but similar in that its good beats and flow and structure. Actually surprised on how excellent this CD was. Best one I've heard in a LONG LONG time. If you like R & B and Hip Hop (like I said "an R.Kelly song with Fabolous rapping in it") get this CD and you won't regret it.

- One of The HOTTEST!!!
I just recently bought this album when i got my job, but i've wanted it the day i heard "Grind With Me." I had heard my friend's cd twice and i thought it was off the chains. Since i work at a Mcdonalds in an airport i got to meet Pretty Ricky and that pushed me to go get the cd even more. I got it the day i left work. Everything about this cd is tight. Every song on this album contributes well:
1)Playhouse: Great choice for an opener ~ 4 stars
2)Your Body: I LOVE this jam. The hook and the music is the best part ~ 5 stars
3)Grind With Me: This song is probably the reason most of us bought this cd from the start ~ 5 stars
4)Get A Little Closer: Not sure what to say besides that this is a good song also ~ 4.5 stars
5)Never Let You Go: This song has been stuck in my head everywhere i go, just for the simple fact that the hook is really catchy ~ 5 stars
6)Juicy: I love Pleasure's parts in this song. He has a great voice and it sounds even better on this song, especially the background (ohhh's). I know the females know ohh's i'm talking about ~ 4.5 stars
7)Call Me ~ When I first heard this song, i think it was my favorite ~ 5 stars
8)Nothing But A Number ~ Ima admit the first time i heard this song, i wasn't feelin it. Now that i've listened to it more it's grown on me ~ 4.5 stars
9)Grill 'Em: This joint makes u wanna get crunk, the verses over that beat, they killed it!!! ~ 4 stars
10)Get You Right: Another slow song with a good hook. Pleasure did his thing again ~ 5 stars
11)Chevy: The verses were good in this song ~ 4 stars
12)I Want You (Girlfriend): Not one of my favorites, but the music is straight and it adds to the cd well ~ 3.5 stars
13)Shory be Mine: Overall, it's another one that the cd needs to be complete, even though it's another one of my least favorites ~ 3.5 stars
14)Can't Live Without You: I'm still trying to figure out my favorite song, and this may be it. Everything about this song is amazing. All 4 of em had a deep verse. There wasn't much background music and it actually made the song better. The only problem is the ending. Being that this was a slow song, it should have faded out, or the music should had atleast went a little longer. Other than that, this song was perfect ~ 5 stars
