Personnel: Nelly, Lil' Wayne, The Teamsters, St. Lunatics, Murphy Lee, Ali, City Spud (rap vocals); Cedric The Entertaner (spoken vocals).
<p>Producers: Jason "Jay E" Epperson, City Spud, Steve "Blast" Wills.
<p>Recorded at Unique Studios, New York, New York.
<p>COUNTRY GRAMMAR was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Rap Album and "Country Grammar" was nominated for Best Solo Rap Performance.
<p>"Ride Wit Me" was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Solo Rap Performance.
<p>With this, his Universal Records major-label debut, St. Louis native Nelly was poised to place the Midwest on the hip-hop map in the same way that Master P did for New Orleans. The 20-year-old MC combines bouncy, funky tracks with a cool, unique vocal draw.
<p>The title track was one of the year 2000's most infectious tracks, with its memorable chorus hook based on the children's song "Down, Down Baby." The rapper is joined by the Hot Boys' Lil Wayne on "For My" and the New York-based duo the Teamsters on "Never Let 'Em C U Sweat." His crew, the St. Lunatics, joins the fracas on "Steal the Show" and "Batter Up." COUNTRY GRAMMAR proves that there's always room for an album of cool beats and slick lyrics, no matter where you call home.

- a good debut album
The Nelly CD is a good mix of heart thumping beats and rap-singing from a very talented new rapper. Nelly and the St. Lunatics put out some great hits on their first album. They all combine to make a great album that you can just ride to. They show a new form of rapping that is really hot. The whole album is a great CD unlike some of the one-hit-wonders of today. There are many songs on this album that will become hits. He puts together songs that are fast and slow, and he does a very good job of putting this album together. With Cedric the Entertainer putting out a couple of funny skits that set off the whole CD. All the songs flow together for an outstanding debut. If you like rap and hip hop I suggest you buy this album.

- Great Hip Hop Album...not to be taken seriously
Nelly's debut album Country Grammar is a huge hit, but should not be taken seriously. This cd includes 15 songs, an intro and an Interlude. The songs are great rap music, but the lyrics go a little too far sometimes. Nelly is definitely the best rap artist out there right now and this CD is definitely worth your money at a very low price around $10 or less. Nelly's new album should be a hit after this great album, but if you don't have this one, go out and get it. The best songs are:
#2 St. Louie-A great song about gangster's in St. Louie..a lot of swear words, but a great song
#4 Country Grammar-Who doesn't like this song? You've heard it before, Nelly rapping about his hometown St. Louis
#7-Ride Wit Me featuring City Spud-A fast, up-beat song, very fun to listen to
#8 EI-This is one of the best song and my personal favorite
#11 Utha Side-Most people probably haven't heard this song..a great song about Nelly's chicks.
#14 Batter Up-An awesome song about baseball with the St. Lunatics

- pop rap
ok i know nelly tried to spit knowledge on the song called the utha side.but you can't judge that album on one song alone.its pop rap plain and simple.he didn't even make tha utha side a single.nelly's popular just because he was easy to market to suburbia.he wasn't TOO urbane,so universal didn't have a hard time marketing him.the st lunatics even admited that they let him go first as a solo artist because he had mainstream apeal.he especialy apealed to young females, whom are the ones who everyone market to now.
i respect him for just being himself and not trying to be hard or tuff.but i still dont think he's a great rapper.his album was just real catchy nothing more nothing less.enjoy the album but don't make it seem like he's the next best thing.AND he's not a male lauryn hill i assure you.
