SO ADDICTIVE finds Missy Elliott proving herself a woman to be reckoned with, particularly plainspoken in carnal matters. On "Dog in Heat," where she's joined by Method Man and Redman, Elliott delivers a forceful but low-key rap over little more than funky bass and drums, striking an arch-sexiness-plus-groovy-minimalism approach reminiscent of mid-period Prince. "One Minute Man" finds the fiesty femme issuing a sexual challenge over a track whose visceral sensuality provides incentive enough to enter into the gambit.

Nevertheless, the rapper proves herself to be more than a sexual cartoon by varying her lyrical and thematic approach. On the percolating "Old School Joint," for example, Missy takes a conventional relationship stance worthy of the song's title, advising her suitor that it's best to "get to know each other" and be friends before becoming lovers. It's this juxtaposition of mindsets that keeps SO ADDICTIVE interesting. On the sonic side, the stop-time sample around which "Step Off" is built bears a distinct Latin flavor, and the infectious, propulsive rhythms of "Whatcha Gon' Do" bear witness to producer Timbaland's knack for nailing a distinctive, memorable sound with a minimum of fuss.

- "Addictive" Album From Missy
This is the first album I've bought from Missy Elliott, and after listening to it, I HAVE to get the other 2!! These songs have funk all over them, even the ballad-like songs. My supreme favorite of this album is the reason I bought it:"Get Ur Freak On". I cannot get enough of this song! Other favorites include "Lick Shots", "Step Off" and "Whatcha Gon' Do". The songs I did not care for were "Take Away"(I love Missy and Ginuwine, but the song was too sappy),"X-tasy", and a bonus track "Movin' On". This song belongs in a hip-hop church, not a rap album. This album is a real winner; I can't wait to get the other 2. As she says in her intro "My Album Is So Addictive". Buy it and you'll be hooked, too!

- Call it what it is...
Don't get it wrong. This is NOT a Rap album. This is not an R & B album. This is not a "Chill" album. This is a DANCE album. You WILL move your body. Simply bobbing your head is NOT acceptable. But that's not what makes this album remarkable. Dance albums have been done before.
What makes this worth buying is the technical proficiency and innovation that has been put into it. The beats are virtually intoxicating. At the same time, it's musical. It has distinct melody. Take away the voices, and you have layer upon layer of...stuff. Which adds up to give the tracks very full sound beyond just the voices. Redman. Method Man. Busta Rhymes. Jay-Z. Ludacris. Ginuwine. Eve. And that's not all!
Dance on...

- So Addictive
After being knocked for Da Real World ( where Timbaland dropped some of his best beats) and it being so dark she returns with the fun almost freestyle like style of the Supa Dupa Fly album. At first when I heard this cd I thought it was mad wack and that Missy and Timbo had fallen off HARD. But for some reason I kept on listening to it and like the title states I became extremely addicted. I couldnt get enough of it. I even repeatedly listened to the intro( a rarity where the intro is good).
the obvious hits Get your Freak On, and One Minute Man and the remix are definitely classic Timbaland. The BEST song has to be Lick Shots with an unbelievable bassline and Missy's playful lyrics. Old School Joint is surprisingly very good with Missy singing and makes you want to hit the dance floor for real. The slow jam Take Away feat. Ginuwine doesnt take anything away from this album and adds a nice change of pace. The Bus A Bus interlude and Whatcha Gon Do sports amazing beats by timbaland. Step off, x-tasy is the bom bom zee. definite satisfaction. Slap, Slap, Slap feat. Da Brat adn Jade is one of the better songs with Da Brat again dropping an impressive verse. Da Brat has been on point lately. The Lil Mo interlude and the bonus gospel songs are some raw singing songs and come off well. The only lackluster song is Scream.
This is a 5 star album with one wack song. Plus the intro and the interludes are worth listening to, something that has NEVER BEFORE been done. I am impressed with this cd. It will be in rotation for A LONG TIME. At least until she drops another album. go Get it you will not regret it.
