- Some savior!
Mims is straight up garbage! You dont have to take my word for it but take time to look at these verses and judge for yourselves. Hip Hop Laughables from Mims: Superman:"Some say Im fly/ they say Im the best/ catch me in the sky with the S on my chest/ chicks call me Superman/ super duper lover/ Just in case it rains keep the Coupe De Ville for covers"
Chorus for Big Black Train: "Shorty wanna ride/ dont worry bout a car/ Cause you can take a ride on My Big Black Train/and we gone be rollin rollin rollin/ choo choo chooin/ NY ATL LA Houston"
Cop It: "Yes its me/ the underestimated MC, So ill with the flow/ that I need a MD"/ "Somebody call a doctor/ I make em all sick/when I hop out the phantom of the opera"(???)". "Now gimme my space/ Im out of this world/ N***** tryna get a nut/ but Im a very big squirrel"(Oh come on! That doesnt even make sense! But then again he does kind of resemble Dale from Chip and Dale) Im Microsoft Mims/ I rock with Bill Gates/first week shipped a mill out the gate"(that remains to be seen)" You bulls*****n / Im talking what I could do/ Mims is hotter than cooked food" /"Wow thats real/ Ya'll ice grilled/ Im laughing all the way to the bank with a nice meal". Need I write more? As you can see he has the most corniest rhymes since Jibbs and most of his rhymes dont make any sense. There's nothing I could say about this album that Chandler, Anthony Rupert and Norfeest havent said so I wont go into detail. There's at least 3 decent tracks on this album, Doctor Doctor, Where I Belong and They Dont Wanna Play(the saving graces of that song was Bun B). The rest of this album is unwashed crusty booty. The first single, This Is Why Im Hot sounds like a track Yung Joc would make and while Like This has a catchy club beat, that track is beyond cheesy. Superman is easily the worst song on this album and tracks like Girlfriend's Fav MC, Cop It and Big Black Train are so wack they make me laugh till my ribs ache.
Bottom Line: Misery Is My Soulmate oops I meant to say Music Is My Savior is a shoe in for one of the worst releases of 2007 by a rapper who set New York back a thousand years with this album. Corny rhymes, decent beats, just a waste of good cd space period. I seriously question your sanity if you give this album more than two stars. If music is Mims's savior then he needs to convert to atheism because music has forsaken him.

- Mims - Music Is My Savior
Mims (A.K.A. Sean Mims) delivers his debut album with "Music Is My Saviour". The New York rapper provides a sixteen track release which features guest appearances from J.Holiday, Bun B, Bad Seed, Letoya Luckett, purple popcorn, Cham, Junior Reid. The album's lead single is "This Is Why I'M Hot" a commercial hit which has been getting a lot of play on the radio. I will be honest in saying that this song disgusts me, weak lyrics, repetitive beat and a pathetic chorus. I disliked this song the first time I heard it, and would be happy to never hear it again. The album's second single "It's Alright" has Mims rhyming over a bouncy beat, with his best Jay-Z imitation. Mims keeps the braggy lyrics going on "Girlfriends Fav MC" which features singer J. Holiday. Mims then flips the script and delivers a heartfelt cut with "Where I belong", first decent track in my opinion. Midway things go more downhill with Mims providing a lot of subpar material. Singer Letoya Luckett laces the love track "Without You" with some smooth vocals, while Mims does his best Fabolous imitation. Mims talks about being fly on "Superman" in a track that never gets off the ground. The "This Is Why I'M Hot" (Remix) feat. appearances from Jamaican dance hall artists Cham and Junior Reid. Mims does his shoutouts to his family and friends on "Don't Cry'. The bonus track "I Did You Wrong" closes off this release. "Music is My Saviour" is most likely the last Mims album I will ever review - garbage music -potential nomination for worst album of 2007.

- Uninspired & Unorigonal (Rating: 5 out of 10- -2.5 stars)
Mims' debut album "Music Is My Savior" has been out for a minute and I've been listening to it. Mostly because his supporters say to "give him a chance", and I decided to before I wrote off his album. I understand that he's been through a lot (both his parents died) and is going through some more issues as well, such as a lawsuit with his album cover in Germany (which might explain why Amazon doesn't have it on here anymore as of right now). After a few listens, I have to say that he is totally uninspired and unorigonal on his album. He had a lead single "This Is Why I'm Hot" out earlier this year. If it were up to me, I'd change the adjetive in the song title to the word "wack", because he gives plenty of examples on this song as well as this album, "I'm hot cuz I'm fly//you ain't cuz you're not". Thats rhymes that fourteen year old kids would have wrote.
Now the real meat of the album: My question for this is that is his name Sean Mims, or is it Shawn Carter?? Like many listeners say and the very first thing that pointed out to me when I first heard this album is that his flow is a spin off of Jay-Z's flow (then again what mainstream New York rapper doesn't do that??) "Girl's Fav MC" is the perfect example of him biting Jay's flow. "Where I Belong" and "Cop It" are more examples (talking and adlibs as well) of his spin off of Jay's flow. On "Just Like That" he says "Some ****** love my swag, they call me Lil' Jigga", my point exactly. Then I think he bites Twista's flow on the song "They Don't Wanna Play" (listen to how he says the last word in every line in his verse). And "Superman" is possibly the worst and the wackest song on here, but thats not saying much.
The album isn't a complete write off though. "Big Black Train" is a good song, and shows that if Mims doesn't bite or spin off other rappers flow, he will have some potential. "Without You" is another good song, where he sound more origonal with the help of Letoya Luckett. I actually like the remix to "This Is Why I'm Hot" becuase of Baby Cham and Jr. Reid. "Don't Cry (Outro)" is probably the best song on the album, because he actually put some heart into the song. A lot of the productuon is good as well, like the lyrically wack but good produced "Like This".
Overall Mims' debut is barely average. Most of the songs on here are completely filler and full of biting. The songs where he puts some heart into, are actually the best songs. "Music Is My Savior" is one of the worst of '07, and I personally believe that if he continues to put out garbage music like this, he going to have to find a new savior, becuase music isn't doing it's job. Peace.

- This is why I'm Hot
WHY? HOW??? "This is Why I'm Hot" is the worst song I've ever heard. It's so damn stupid.
Has America really turned into a country of retarded chimps? This is beneath retarded people.
Me being a fan of good hip-hop, this pisses me off even more.
Anyone remember the lyrical complexity and flow of 2Pac and Biggie?
Now we got MIMS and his version of Chumba Wumbas "I get knocked down" song? Where some moron just repeats a single line over and over to a bad beat?
This sucks. I have no hope anymore for music. Every single record company will now think American music consumers like this ****.
