Mickey Avalon Album: “Mickey Avalon [PA]”
Description :
Personnel: Mickey Avalon; Camille Vizzi, Wayne Kramer.
Recording information: 2006.
Mickey Avalon's eponymous debut is hip-hop, but one won't find gangsta poses here: this MC is all about Hollywood sleaze. Taking sonic cues from Beck's kitchen-sink funk approach and Williamsburg's electro-clash scene, Avalon trawls his city's gutters and afterparties for both musical and lyrical inspiration. Topics--covered in sometimes hilarious, sometimes disturbing wordplay--include shaking derrieres, prostitutes, junkies, attraction to bulimics, rich and vacant starlets, cheap narcotics, and the pursuit of fame. The listener may need a shower after spending an hour in Avalon's world, but with ear candy as hornily infectious as "Jane Fonda," getting dirty never sounded better.

- good dirty raunchy fun

Is this album going to change the world? No. Is any album? Probably not. Mickey is definitely not for everyone but if the idea of a dirty Beck intrigues you, give it a spin.

- Lyrical genius!

If you enjoy raunchy lyrics set to hip shaking beats, buy this album. If, in your opinion, foul language in songs is the same as urine in your

, then you should avoid *anything* with the Mickey Av Flag in it, dammit!

- He Busts Flows That Turns Nuns To Hoes

THIS ALBUM IS A MUST BUY!!! I am generally not into rap/hip-hop but this album is amazing. While it is filthy what can you expect from a former drug addict and male prostitute. It is interesting to hear about someone with a not so glamorous life. Mickey tells it like it is and it is vulgar. While many of the reviews on here are negative I would like to straighten on the records. Track 1 starts it of by setting the pace. If it doesn't scare you away with its nasty lyrics it will certainly hook you and quickly reel you in. While Track 3 is the most popular I can hardly say it is the best. It is damn catchy but a bit to poppy for me. My personal favorite is Track 10 which has some great lines and great beats. The beats are some of the best that I have heard on an album and the bass hits are over the top on several tracks. Make sure you listen to Track 69 for a good laugh. Overall, if you can't have fun and get enjoyment from some filth don't but this but if you want a good time and some great music pick it up. I would also like to say that I have met Mickey and chatted with him and he is a nice guy with a lot of intelligence. Catch him live if you can. It is well worth it.

- Old school is back !

Great music ! Great fun ! Best old school rap since "Raising Hell" (Run DMC). Kinda reminds me in many ways of LL Cool J's "Walking with the Panther" album but even more daring. You gotta get this one because Mickey Avalon promises to be the true hip hop star of the next decade or more. White men can rap for sure !

- Real cool album

This is offensive music, so don't play it around grandma, but for fans of nasty hip-hop this is perfect. It can be a little whiny/emo but the more upbeat songs more than make up for this.
