Madlib Album: “Beat Konducta 5-6 [2/10]”
Description :
Since J Dilla's DONUTS served as the inspiration for Madlib's own instrumental BEAT KONDUCTA series, it's only fitting that the Oxnard indie hip-hop hero dedicate one to his fallen friend and sometime partner. Originally released as two vinyl-only installments (DIL COSBY SUITE and DIL WITHERS SUITE), BEAT KONDUCTA VOL. 5 & 6 appears in CD form on Stones Throw. Mixed by DJ J. Rocc of the World Famous Beatjunkies, BEAT KONDUCTA VOL. 5 & 6 is a bittersweet crate-diggin' journey made up of 42 short beat snippets (never more than a minute or two) that is as much Madlib as it is Dilla.

- The the ultimate tribute to J Dilla

This is an album you got to listen to with headphones. I catch something new everytime I listen to it. Yes, this is an album you can rock from beginning to end. You have to at least listen straight thru each suite. Madlib, with the help of J Rocc, are letting music say so many things about an incredible beatmaker that was and continues to be loved by many.

This is exactly what I would expect from Madlib! Five star excellence!

- Will Grow On You

When I first bought this CD, gave it a listen and I thought it was ok, nothing great. I liked about 4 tracks out of the 41 or 42. As time went on though, I started to love more and more of the tracks that I had paid no mind to before. Now I love every track on this spectacular album! Hands down 5 stars. Get it even if it isn't your style because it will grow on you!

- Perfect, beginning to end.

I bought this a year ago, and this is still one my favorite things to listen to, anytime.. I never was a hiphop fan before I listened to Madlib (Lootpack, Madvillain). This album is put together SO WELL from the beginning to end, some o fthe sounds you may not agree with at first but if you've ever tried swapping tastes in music you'd know it takes time to appreciate different things. Beautifully orchestrated album. Coming from a Jimi H, Mastodon, Atmosphere fan.

- J Dilla Would Be Proud!

This is acually the first Madlib album that I personally own, and it was well worth the money, and since J Dilla has passed away from Lupus on February 10, 2006 Madlib "The Beat Konducta" currently is the closest thing to J Dilla as far as production wise. For thouse of you that has not purchased J Dilla's Donuts album, I suggest that you do so because it showcases the man's genius, but back to Madlib. His tribute to his fallen friend J Dilla is a great one from start to finish an not one wack track in the bunch and if Dilla is listening up in heaven, he would be proud! It's unfortunate that people nowadays listen to a bunch of symplistic type beats where there's no creativity what so ever and it make the airwaves which is B.S. This album is no B.S.! and I like this album so much that I think that it's the closest thing to J Dilla's Donuts, MAYBE even better...MAYBE!
