- I don't wanna be a prude, but c'mon LL...you don't need to lower yourself to this...
...and by that I mean jumping on the trend in hip-hop the past decade or so where every single has to include raps from about 20 different guest artists, where a song's listing includes about half a dozen "with" and "and featuring" credits, to the point where the guy whose song it's supposed to be almost seems tacked on as an afterthought. Furthermore, the gratuitous swearing is off-putting. Yeah, yeah, I know that's how most of them do it these days, but you know what? LL rarely stooped that low in the first half of his career, so why's he think he's gotta do it now? Yeah, I know, he was the first rapper to include the word "mother******" on a record, but his profanity was pretty few and far between for a long time after that. This collection brings all of that to the forefront, however, and it's just disappointing if you like to listen to hip-hop that doesn't make you feel like a 12 year old.
Other reviewers have mentioned the odd inclusion of four songs from the previous collection, which is weird since this one's even purposely called "All World 2" as if to say "You need this to compliment the other one," even though it contains four duplicated songs. Why couldn't they have subbed a few more songs that didn't make either collection, like "Go Cut Creator Go" or his excellent re-working of the Rufus hit "Ain't Nobody" (featured in "Beavis & Butt-Head Do America")?
Having said that, there's some great songs on here - "Dear Yvette", "I'm That Type Of Guy", "Phenomenon", "Paradise", and the bizarre "Pink Cookies In A Plastic Bag Getting Crushed by Buildings". And it's an okay compliment to "All World 1", just kind of odd that both cover so much common ground where there are so many other great LL songs out there that didn't make either one.
- Def Jam rapng LL's fans again
I see a lot of people complaining about the fact that there are songs on here that were originally on "All World". You can't blame LL for this, we all know he has hits that could have been on here, ,so BLAME DEF JAM. They figured we're kicking him off the label,, lets make some money of him. I love the fact that they added "Pink Cookies" on this one, but there was more new stuff they could have added like headsprung and other songs. My advice to all my LL fans here is to go and make your own All World 2 and combine it with all world and BUMP THAT S***. THAT'S WHAT'S UP. I can't wait for his new album "Authentic" to drop, Def Jam can suck it, this new album is shaping up to be extra special, the likes of which they weren't worthy to put their stamp.
Def Jam was the house LL built, they evicted him, ,now it's the house LL can tear apart. Jay-Z is a B**ch too, he's a great MC but a bad businessman.
peace
