Lil Rob Album: “Twelve Eighteen Part 1 [PA]”
Description :
Personnel: Lil Rob (rap vocals); Carmen San Diego (vocals); Mr. J, Jimmy Castro (rap vocals).
Lil Rob built up a name for himself hustling on smaller labels for years before his 2002 Upstairs Records debut THE ALBUM. After three years he followed that with TWELVE EIGHTEEN PART 1, an engrossing record overflowing with charm and hooks. On a bonus track, the Chicano rapper proclaims of his style: "it's feel good music, real good music, real hood music." That's not a bad description of an MC who creates catchy tracks that tend to balance a disarming, cordial vibe with an indisputably raw credibility.
TWELVE EIGHTEEN PART 1 was preceded by breakthrough hit "Summer Nights," a breezy jam conjuring up the fun, mellow vibe of overheated summertime parties. That tune is here, along with tracks that represent Lil Rob's versatility, like the classic West Coast hardcore of "Superbad," and the bass-heavy and inventively produced "Playground." Lil Rob finishes with the reflective "I'm Still Here," featuring a soulful sample from 1960s singer Barbara Mason and a doo-wop-inflected chorus, sending this satisfying album out on a lingering, memorable note.

- #1,like all the other albums

this album is different than the rest, but just as good.I wouldnt say he "sold out". He just grew up. Life isnt all about "gang banging and hoes",That Sh*t gets old.If u want something 2 relate 2, this is a good album.Ladies, He also has great respect for women, which is more than i can say for all these rappers now dayz. The reason why the word "real" is stressed is because he is what he is, not going out of his way to be fake just to make it( i mean, how many people do u know drive real expensive cars, have a platnum grill, are pimps, and so on... i dont know anyone that can relate to that. who would want to look so stupid)

Have respect 4 ur self- dont be a follower.

- Lil Rob

This was a good lil rob album, not as good as his others, but still tight , in my opinion number 13 is classic "I AM STILL HERE" , Lil Rob rips that track , and that oldies beat is sick , thats what I like about westcoast latino southern california rap , they make the best rap with oldies beats, no one does it better , one of the best lil rob tracks ever to me ,this made me happy I bought the album, the rest of the album is cool , the song "BACK IN THE STREETS' sounds like a kayne west beat, its pretty tight, never thought lil rob would be flowin over that kind of stuff, guess he is going mainstream , trying to get a bigger fan base and more money, its all good, Lil Rob keep doing what you doing , support lil rob and west coast chicano rap, this is way better than that east coast latin rap stuff

- Hes Still My Boy!

I love Lil'Rob n have been down with him since his CRAZY LIFE a classic album in chicano rap n yeah he went soft with this album he changed up his beats he took away the oldie sound n talked or rapped about whatever every other mainstream artist raps about but please quit talking about how he has sold out.As long as he dont forget about his latino roots then im all good wit him.

And if you have always been down with him the way you all say you have then you should have been able to guess that this was gonna come sooner or later (think back to THE ALBUM the track CITY THAT EVERYONE KNOWS when he talks about deserving radio play) so obviously hes been wanting to b on the radio without having to "sell out" as so many of u have put it but everone knows that it is so much more difficult for chicanos to get that play and mayb that was the only way he was able to get what he been wantin. So even tho this album went way soft n sounded like another 50 Cent song just hang wit him cuz he been rappin n bein real n been unknown for bout 10 years now so please let him have his time to shine.

I LOVE YOU LIL ROB BUT PLEASE REMEMBER LA RAZA!

- BROWN PRIDE !!!

Few cd's now provide as many bangin joints like this cd. From top to bottom this cd delivers a great collection of hardcore hip hop with some 'radio friendly' hits and some old school sounds that your 'papi' would enjoy.

This cd is very well produced, and Lil' Rob is very talented. 'Summer Nights' is the best, but the rest of the cd is not far behind. Being from Connecticut, I don't know much from this artist. But trust me, I will buy more of his music.

I hope you do the same.

- One of A Kind

This album is a one of a kind. Stand out from all other trash talkers and people who say they do things when they don't. Lil Rob is a true rapper and everything he says comes from the heart.
