- Lil Kim's unapolgetic debut
After being part of Jr. Mafia, Biggie Smalls introduced the world of Hip-Hop to one of his most talented artists -- Lil Kim. I knew Lil Kim could rap from Player's Anthem and Get Money. However when her debuted single hit 'No Time' hit the airwaves and video lanuched I knew this album would make Lil Kim a star. I remember at 11 (yes 11) stealing this from my brother and being quite impressed with the album from start to finish. Biggie gave Kim the right producers and writers, and allowed Kim to pen her own material as well. The album is now 15 years old and is double platinum (the first female rapper to do this and then Missy thereafter). The lyrical content was viewed as taboo for a female rapper at the time, but Kim was able to have the confidence and drive to not be ashamed of what she was rapping about. Without her putting the blueprint to these daring songs I don't think a female rapper would be as ballsey to do it now. I will say if you never heard this album please cope this. The beats are sicks and I don't think you will find one song you can't vibe with.

- Lil' Kim's best!
What can I say? She's raw, she's raunchy, she's real. This is hard core for sure. Her best album and one of the best CDs of the 90s.

- Better than you would think
Junior Mafia member Lil' Kim goes solo on "Hardcore". This album is better than you think. Although she definitely sold out completely on her following releases, she does have some street credibility on her debut album. She will never be known as a strong lyricist but has a good beat selection. For those nostalgic of 90s hip hop and female hip hop before it became overly cliched and saturated this along with Foxy Browns "Ill Na Na" would be good albums to pick up.

- If only Kim was like this now in '01
This CD is a hip-hop classic. She has skills to kill and her rhymes are as the title suggests, hardcore. This is when it was all about the music. She didn't have beef w. Foxy Brown on this one (check the credits-they were friends back in '96) so every other song wasn't a diss to her. She stuck to one topic and it came through. That is how this CD outdoes Notorious KIM. On Notorious KIM, she is streaky with her themes and the beats are much worse than on this one. If you are a new Kim fan, I would recommend this one. Very Entertaining, Enjoy.
