- More Dying than Riding?
Jadakiss is obviously trying to expand his horizons. "Kiss The Game Goodbye" finds Jada exploring new territory, far beyond the usual Ruff Ryder's formula. This is most evident on songs like "When Kiss Is Spittin" (which features-- for real-- Nate Dogg), "Nasty Girl" (with Carl Thomas), "Cruisin'" (Snoop Dogg), and the R&B tinged "Keep Ya Head Up", where Jada decides to provide a motivational speaker role. Ironially, the most listen-albe music on the album is the usual Ruff-Ryder sound, where Jadakiss (who i believe to be one of the most lyrically talented in the rap game) sticks to his usual rough-and-rugged style ("What You Ride For?", where guests Fiend and Yung-Wun are practically screaming). "Un-Hunh!" (with fellow RR comrade DMX), the recent single "Put Ya Hands Up", and the Nas-featured "Show Discipline"-- which has the tightest beat on the album-- are the highlights. Of course, the usual Double-R beats are on here and the whole slew of the artists (Eve, Drag-On, The Lox, who all are there on "It's Time I See You") appear as well. All in all, Ruff Ryder fans should enjoy this one, unless theyre driven off by some of the muddy production. While Kiss is trying to branch out in the rap game, he is better off sticking to Ryding Or Dying; he should kiss the rest of the sound goodbye.

- Kissin The Game Goodbye
Jadakiss is one of my favorite MCs .And when I found out he had a solo album comin out , i had to get it . I first got into Jadakiss when he and the Lox were with Bad Boy . I hated and still cant stand Puff but i admit puttin the LOX on was one of the best things that ever happen to hip hop . On this album , Jada rips up damn near every track . Jadakiss is one of the dopest lyricists out there . The production by The Neptunes , Timbaland , The Alchemist and Swizz Beatz makes the album a must have . The only track i dont really care for is What You Ride For . Although I like all the songs , my favorites are : Jada's
Got A Gun , Knock Yourself Out , Nasty Girl , Put Ya Hands Up , Crusin' and Feel Me . So with this album , Jadakiss is gonna kiss the weak rappers in this rap game goodbye .

- Could Have Been Much Better (Rating: 6 out of 10- -3.0 stars)
When Jadakiss was dropping a solo album, I was hyped as hell when I heard. After scoring so many hit singles with the LOX ("Money, Power, Respect", "Ryde Or Die [Chick]", etc.), he steps up to the plate as the first member of his crew to come out with a solo album.
Given that, back in '01, I was under the impression that this album was pushed back on Interscope, seeing that he released two singles before the album dropped ("Put Yo Hands Up" and "Knock Yaself Out"). The problem with this is that it seemed like hes gotten a little lazy with the lyrics. As the editorial reviewer mentioned, the album is flooded with Jada's consistant gun talk, which makes him seem like hes saying absolutely nothing new. The weak Aerosmith inspired "Jada's Got A Gun", and "I'm A Gangsta" shows no improvement since he was put on.
Jada pulls himself together on the tracks like "Show Discipline" with Nas. Then theres the classic with Styles P. on "We Gon Make It" (which shared the same beat with Ras Kass). The laid back "Crusin" is kinda great, which features Snoop Dogg. "Kiss Is Spittin" is wonderful, featuring Nate Dogg. I'll even "Here We Go Again" featuring DMX is nice, especially when Jada takes a shot a Beanie Sigel ("...the doc said I had to stop eating red meat, because I ate too many Beanie-Mac's"). Jada ends off the album on a positive note with "Keep Your Head Up".
Other guest appearances do very little, such as "It's Time I See You" with the majority of the Ruff Ryders, but everyone sounds weak. "What You Ride For" featuring Yung-Wun, Fiend, and Eightball makes Jada seems out of place (Note to any up and comming NY rappers: Stay off the down south stuff. It's NEVER worked.)
Overall, Kiss Of Death is a solid album. It could have been much better lyrically. The production here is very good too. This one is recommended if you're a fan of Jada, or the LOX. If you want to hear their best, I highly recommend Jada's sophomore album
, or Styles
, or Sheek's
. Peace.

- The quintessential hip-hop album-a must have Classic!!
This album is a must have!! I brought this cd thinking that it was just another cd to add to my hip-hop collection. However, it has become my favorite and still is even today. I used to DJ my own parties in college, and I played this Cd from top to bottom; everyone went home satisfied and tired as hell from bumpin' and grindin' to this cd all night. It is the ultimate hip-hop party Cd. To those reviewers who dissed this cd, I suggest that you rate the Cd based on its purpose to the hip-hop industry. This Cd is meant for those who just want to bump to some tight beats. It is not meant to change the world through it's socially-impacting lyrics. Buy it for the best beats in hip-hop for many years to come!
