Insane Clown Posse Album: “Forgotten Freshness Vol. 3 [PA]”
Description :
Insane Clown Posse: Violent J, Shaggy 2 Dope, Mike Clark.
Additional personnel includes: Three 6 Mafia, Zug Island, Twizted, L.A. The Dark Man, The Rude Boy.
Includes liner notes by Insane Clown Posse.
This is part of Psychopathic Records "Forgotton Freshness" series.
For those of you out there who don't take ICP seriously, don't worry; they don't regard themselves very seriously either, as the loopy, often-humorous feel of this disc clearly points out. This release offers 16 tracks of ICP's previously unreleased material. Despite the heavy-handed rap style and the sparsely sprinkled crunching guitar, the lyrics are spouted in a free-spirited, light-hearted manner, dulling the sharp edges with a nice dose of fun. The tracks vary widely from the Three G Mafia-fronted, straight-out rap "Just Another Crazy Click," to the hard rocking "Take It!," the Scottish-tinged "Fly Away," and the acoustic ballad "Take Me Home." This eclecticism makes for a dizzying melange, but for a compilation album, that's not really an issue. FORGOTTEN FRESHNESS VOL. 3 is mostly meant for hardcore fans of the crazy clowns, but anyone looking for a good introduction to the far- out, raucous stylings of ICP could use this disc.

- ICP - "Forgotten Freshness, Vol. 3" (5 stars)

This is the third installment of the "Forgotten Freshness" series, and when I came onto this site and see all the very negative reviews for it. I was completely floored.

In my opinion, this is possibly the best yet in the series. It's much darker than the first 2, it has really good concept and very few tracks are disappointments. But that's just my opinion.

This is a compilation of more "diamonds in the dirt" tracks launching all the way back to their "Ringmaster" days. Just like the first 2 installments, this volume has a great diverse varieties that will please any Juggalo of any particular preference of style. Here you have horrorcore rap (Just Another Crazy Click), storytelling rap (Super Star), remade tracks (Posse On Vernor), rock songs (Take It!), a diss track (Nuttin' But A Bxtch Thang) and even a Hallowicked track (Every Halloween). So there's definitely got a few things here and there for any fan.

I love the production on here as well, courtesy of Mike E. Clark, ICP as well as a brand new producer, his name Mike P. His production has alot of rock influence in it, taken that he is a guitarist for the Psychopathic Records rock band Zug Izland, it was shockingly compelling to see how well a rock guitarist could make really good rap beats. So that's another plus.

Here's my individual track ratings.

01. "Intro" (N/A)

02. "Cartoon Nightmares" (A+)

03. "Posse On Vernor" (A+)

04. "Fly Away (ft. Zug Izland)" (A)

05. "It" (A+)

06. "Run!" (C+) (least favorite)

07. "Nuttin' But A Bxtch Thang" (A+)

08. "Just Another Crazy Click (ft. Three 6 Mafia & Twiztid)" (A+) (favorite)

09. "Take It!" (B)

10. "Super Star" (A)

11. "Every Halloween" (B-)

12. "The Mom Song (ft. The Rude Boy)" (B-)

13. "Insane Killers (ft. Vanilla Ice & L.A. The Dark Man)" (A+)

14. "Confessions" (B)

15. "When Vampiro Gets High (ft. Vampiro)" (N/A)

16. "Take Me Home (ft. Jumpsteady & Amy of Blush)" (A+)

This compilation is worth every penny I paid for it. If you are a Juggalo or a fan of underground or horrorcore rap, then you should have this in your collection. Like I said, it diversifies into a wide range of their styles, it will definitely have something for the taste buds in your ears. Peace.

- Good album...But the Worst of the Forgotten Freshness Series

I am a die-hard Juggalo and have been since Ringmaster dropped. All of ICP's albums have a special place in my heart as well. That makes it very hard to dissect and tear apart one of my favorite bands. However, sometimes you listen to some albums and realize some of the songs just don't hit you the right way. That's not to say the songs aren't good, it just hits different people different ways. I'll break it down the way others have before me.

Intro(9/10) To me, this was a realy good intro..brought back the Ringmaster feeling

Cartoon Nightmares(8/10) I realy dug this song. However, It sucks that it was edited from it's original release. It was on a cd sampler that also featured songs from Drowning Pool and Mudvayne. In the original song Shaggy says "I hijack airplanes and head for record label towers..POW".

Posse On Vernor(5/10) Hard song for me to get into. Also re-done as Posse On Broadway.

Fly Away(5/10) Another song I had a hard time getting into. They did this song with Zug Island. In my opinion Zug Island wasn't very good. Best song they ever did was Sunny Day, so to me this song just doesn't have it.

It(3/10) J was bored one night went in the studio and recorded this. The lyrics just don't work well on this one as a song.

Run!(5/10) This song came out during the run of the Pendulum comics and was released as a single with the comic. Another hard one to get into.

Nuttin' But A B***h Thang(9/10) Great song about why Eminem is a b***h. Realy good beat and great lyrical flow from Shaggy and J. A must hear.

Just Another Crazy Click(9/10) Different style for ICP but mixes well with Three Six Mafia.

Take It(7/10) Not sure what to say about this one. It's a good song with some good hooks to it.

Super Star(9/10) Funny song about what J would be like if he was a super star.

Every Halloween(9/10) Fantastic halloween themed song about people dissing ICP then dressing like them for halloween.

Mom Song(3/10) Just couldn't get into it at all. I appreciate what they were doing and their message but I just don't dig it to much.

Insane Killers(5/10) Decent song but with ICP and Vanilla Ice it could have been a lot better. In truth I think ICP should sign Vanilla Ice to Psychopathic Records.

Confessions(8/10) I thought this song was realy good. Sounds as though it was from the Riddlebox era. Which is a good thing.

When Vampiro Gets High(1/10) It's a Skit. A complete waste of anyone's effort to even produce this. Pretend it doesn't exist.

Take Me Home(2/5) Just not a very good song.

Well, I hope this helps someone out. MCL

- Worst in FF series.

This cd really isn't even worth your money. With the exception of "Cartoon Nightmares" (which was recorded exclusively for FF3, and is a terrible song anyway) all of these songs have previously been released on compilation albums or other arists' albums. The purpose of the FF series is to let people hear scrapped and rare songs, but if they were previously released, it kind of defeats the purpose. If your a Psychopathic collector, than pick this up, but if you're just a casual fan, (if there is a such thing as a casual ICP fan) then just stay away from it.
