Disco de Ghostface Killah: “Live in New York City [DVD]”

First off, I love, love, LOVE GHOSTFACE!!! He's one of my favorite Wu memebers, and is the most consistent when dropping albums. But, what this performance lacks, and therefore relies too heavily on, is my problem with most hip-hop and rap shows. Too many dudes on the damn stage with a mic. When I see mc's perform, I want to see the MC PERFORM!!! Is that too hard? At $25-$40 a ticket ($20 for the dvd), is it too much to just want to see the person I came to see perform? Rappers now a days can't even say one line by themselves. Most of this performance is just Ghost saying a couple of words per line of each verse followed by lick 4 dudes each with a mic finishing the lines or allowing the audience to). Did I just pay to watch your hype mEn perform your songs? Rappers are lazy as hell these days, and I hate to see Ghost in such a way. Especially how much he, along with other rappers, go on and on about how real and real hip-hop they are. Back in the days, you saw the actual person you came to see on stage and perform. I hate going to shows and dude's are on stage with 10 other people, each with a mic, and no one even finishing their own lines.

I did have the pleasure of seeing Ghostface live, and he was just with one other dude onstage, and that was much much much better. That was a great show, and I would recommend seeing him live based on that. This dvd however, it isn't until halfway through the show does Ghost seem to even get into it. On the other hand, it does have some good guest appearances from Masta Killah, Killah Priest, GZA and even Sun God. I was real excited when I saw this was out, and really wanted to give this 5 stars...
