Disco de Gang Starr: “No More Mr. Nice Guy [PA]”
Descripción (en inglés) :
Gang Starr: The Guru Keithy E (rap vocals); DJ Premier (turntables, samples). <p>Additional personnel: Damo D-Ski (vocals). <p>Producers: Gang Starr, The Guru Keithy E., Mark The 45 King. <p>Includes liner notes by Reginald Dennis. <p>Digitally remastered by Carlton Batts (Frankford Wayne). <p>Gang Starr's first release, 1989's NO MORE MR. NICE GUY, is a true gem. The album offers a glimpse of genius in progress. These early DJ Premier tracks stand the test of time, though many are at a faster tempo than his typical creations. NO MORE MR. NICE GUY helped create the jazz aesthetic that would dominate East Coast hip-hop music for the next six or seven years. <p>"Jazz," an ode to the genre that greatly influenced DJ Premier, is a history lesson demonstrating both group members' musical knowledge. "Manifest" is undoubtedly the most memorable cut on the album, and the song that catapulted the duo into hip-hop's hall of fame. Also included on the set is the remix of "Positivity" a hard-hitting banger that heralds the Premier style adopted on the scores of important hip-hop albums with which the DJ was involved throughout the 1990s.

- "The begining of a new Hip-Hop legacy"!

The name GANG-STARR is synonimous with Hip-Hop any where in the world you might go. In 1989, a Bean Town born/B'klyn blessed MC "manifested" over a dope DJ Premier track, some funky rhymes with a trademark voice. This would mark the begining of a new Hip-Hop dynasty that's still in full effect to this day. GANG-STARR , through out the years, has put out classic after classic after classic! And this is their first one. Expect nothing less than banging beats and an ill flow from this incredible duo. This CD edit. contains extra tracks not found on the original '89 pressing on wax and cassette. This is 100% grass-roots Hip-Hop for your enjoyment. No ignorant thug, BS, Rims, platinum crap. Just plain ol' good Hip-Hop for your ear.

- smooth and jazzy compilation

this album is well made and has been used as sort of a blueprint for the the infusion of rap and jazz (tribe called quest, etc). filled to the brim with creativity, guru and premiere debut themselves with this album. original and smooth, this record has a tendency to stay in one's "rotation" for a longer duration than alot of other great old rap albums(thus hopefully keeping puffy and eminem out of the rotation). if you're a fan of good old east coast rap, you should definitely check out this funky record. guru sounds smooth, rhymes are to the point and premiere is (needless to say) one of the greatest djs of all time. check this album out if it's not already in your collection.

- There Debut album

This album appeared in 1989 and it contains some pure jazz rap.The beats are pretty old school all through out.Guru also has some good Lyrics on this one and Premier does a great job of getting some jazz rap beats for his MC. Check it out now
