Flavor Flav Album: “Hollywood [PA]”

Flavor Flav Album: “Hollywood [PA]”
Description :
For hip-hop heads who always thought Flavor Flav's solo joints were the highlights of any P.E. album (or any new fans who arrived via the FLAVOR OF LOVE reality TV show), at long last, the original show-stealing sidekick delivers his debut album, HOLLYWOOD, on his own label Draytown records. After seeing two previous solo projects scrapped, Flav finally has a full-length platform on which to showcase his (surprisingly varied) talents. Hip-hop's original court jester not only handled much of the production and instrumentation, but also brought a variety of vocal styles--from hardcore storytelling, to amped-up party rhymes, to R&B hook-singing, to straight-up funk--that make his famed "yeeeah boyyyy" interjection nearly a thing of the past.

- Flavor Flav - Hollywood

I grew up on Public Enemy and loved the contrast between the straight-man Chuck D and the goofball Flavor Flav. So my friend let me listen to Flav's new looooong overdue solo record. Presumably, the only reason this got released was because of his success with VH1's Flavor of Love.

The album starts out with Flav singing! This is hilariously entertaining. The second song sounds like it was made 10 years ago because it's Flav rapping like he used to in his Public Enemy days.

The album has this rushed feel to it. None of the songs really go together. The album is a mix of his old solo records that never got released from about ten years ago (his harder rapping), and his newer funner, more comedic side.

The album clocks in at 77 minutes long, which is waaaaay too long. I found myself skipping ahead through almost all of the songs. The could have cut out a lot of it and still not lost the effect.

The newer stuff is downright funny - a 10 on the unintentional comedy scale. I would say it's gawdawful, but in a fun, hilarious, stupid kind of way. It was an enjoyable listen - a good laugh. But I don't think I would spend my money on this.

- Unga Bunga Bunga...

So I bought the CD for Unga Bunga Bunga which I heard on S. 4 of breaking bad. FUN SONG!!! Not really into the rest of the album, but I think he could do some fun stuff. Production values very low, but it is also good for all types of people to be able to make music - that is important. And it seems like he is having fun...

- Worst Music I've Ever Purchased

This is the Worst Music I've Ever Purchased and I love music, especially hip hop. Flav was great back in the day as crowd exciter with PE. However, this album just tries way to hard to be awesome and it just isn't.

- The Bachelor of Love!!

The first black bachelor on real television, he did an awesome job on this cd consider the fact that he has not made an lp since public enemy and now adays you sure don't find too many artist that can sit and do a non-studio version, yeah we say other cd's are good but you take away the studio and mixing and what sound do you have? His worth while tracks are #6, and 13 thru 19 he could have left off number 20, but all n all this is a great come back no phoney stuff just the flav we have all grown to resepect, love and like.

- Flav of Flav

This was a Christmas present. I am really not into that kind of music, but the girl that received it really loved it.
