- Watch Out. . . I See Field Mob Comin

It's been a long time coming, but nearly half a year after garnering heavy rotation mainstream airplay, the boys from Macon are ready to introduce themselves to the world. To be perfectly honest, I didn't expect much more from the mob than another typical southern album made strictly for the clubs and chevy's, but much to my dismay I was wrong. There is a common reference known throughout the hip hop/rap community known as keeping it real, and with their debut album that is exactly what Kalage and Boondax does. The opening song, Can't Stop Us, serves as a chin check for all non-believers who may have thought that Kalage and Boondax lacked lyrical talent. It is often thought that artists from the south (save Outkast and Goodie Mob) lack the creativity to set standards within the rap community, but the entertaining tales of Cheatin on We and Channel 613 seems to display the Boondax and Kalage at their best. That is not to say this album is not without its faults, that fart filled interlude "Waiting" takes away from the album overall decent musical content, while mediocore production and a tired hook makes "Crutch" a fast forward candidate- although its lyrically decent. Having already gained respect for the city of Macon as a viable outlet for rap artists (a task that John Amos, Sonny Spoon, etc. found a diffucult time doing) Field Mob will definitely earn their fair share of repesect with 3:16 Ashy to Classy.

- Their best album.

That statement has stood the test of time too. I liked their first single Project Dreamz. I can still remember laughing my a$$ off when I heard Channel 613 Part 1. They got pretty impressive wordplay plus their stories are usually funny. Take for instance My Main Roni where they both talk about how they were cheated on by their girlfriends. Comical. Cheatin On We is hysterical as both Smoke and Shondrae give laugh out loud accounts of how they cheated on their cheating girlfriends. On the positive side they have a song called Crutch which is definetly a highlight. The only songs I consider skippable are Da Durty(does nothing for me) and Shake Sumpthin(kind of corny). Other than that this album is damn good. Bottom Line: Field Mob's 613: a Ashy To Classy is their best album. The production was cool and their rhymes were great and hilarious.

Standout Tracks: PROJECT DREAMZ, DEAD IN YOUR CHEVY, MY MAIN RONI, CHEATIN ON WE, CHANNEL 613 PART 1, DIMEZ(Jazzy Bs), CRUTCH and HEY SHAWTY.
