I was stationed on a German Navy ship for two years about ten years ago when I first heard of the Fanta 4. They weren't hugely popular then and the German hip-hop scene hadn't really taken off yet so I forgot about them. I recently started brushing up on my German skills and was looking for modern German music and ran across them again.
Wow, have they "grown up!" When I discovered they had a new release live in their home of Stuttgart backed by an 80 piece orchestra, I couldn't pass it up. This performance is a group at the top of it's game. Tightly arranged and flawlessly executed, it is a great recording. If you understand some German, it is even more entertaining as some of their raps are quite funny (Pipis und Popos, Beweg Dein Popo, Du Arsch).
If you love real hip-hop and are tired of the tired blah, blah, blah of American rappers, give this a try. Great music, well performed by some seriously talented musicians!
