<p>With THE SOUND OF REVENGE, Chamillionaire's 2005 Universal debut, the Houston-based rapper makes the most of his major-label deal, which includes his own Chamillitary imprint. On SOR, Paul Wall's former collaborator amps up that duo's signature chopped-and-screwed mixtape sound with heavy-duty arrangements that expertly showcase Chamillionaire's deep, husky voice. The introductory title track is marked by machine-gun beats, and establishes the album's fierce, restless mood. But the disc's highlight is the utterly infectious single "Turn It Up," which boasts Scott Storch's distinctive chiming production and an appearance by Lil' Flip. Although fellow Texan Bun-B, Krayzie Bone, and others also show up, REVENGE doesn't rely on guest shots; this is Chamillionaire's show through and through, as proven by each track on this assured and potent record.

- It's the Southern Takeover...
This is one of my favorite Southern Albums. Chamillionaire took the south and made it a big cannon, pointed at the rest of the Hip-Hop world, and fired. I AM NOT a big fan of Southern Rap. I live in Atlanta, but I've been annoyed by rappers like D4L, Dem Franchize Boys, Lil' Jon, and so many others who make nothing but CLUB songs... Honestly it's nice having a good track to dance to, but rap is more serious and more political than "Shake that Laffy Taffy..."
Atlanta was runnin rap for awhile and I was worried about southern influence... Ok so when I bought this album, I was a bit skeptical. I've heard Mike Jones... His album got old quick... I GAVE it away! I listened to Slim Thug and Paul Wall... I thought Houston rap would never impress me other than old skool Scarface and the Geto Boys... But when I heard this album by Chamillionaire, I was impressed. He is indeed a southern lyricist.
Songs that I liked the most:
2. In the Trunk - one of my favorites, if not my fav
6. Southern Takeover - Made me open my ears to southern rap
10. Think I'm Crazy - Amazing story telling... Classic
11. Rain - A very good and emotional track
15. Void in My Life - Makes you sit and think... really...
16. Outro - Made me hungry for his next album
Those are my favorites... And I'm very critical of songs so 6/16 is VERY good.

- Hmmm...
Mr. "Musac Critic" you are anything but. First of all, Paul Wall gives Eminem some competition? Hardly. Wall, while entertaining as a momentary gimmick, is nowhere near the level of Eminem in any way. Its ridiculous to even attempt to claim something so far off base. As for Slim Thug's "Grammy worthy" debut, as you called it, again is anything but. Are you serious? Slim Thug is by far the worst MC of all the upstart Houston rappers. To try to fluff up the Houston rappers by making flippant claims in your reviews only makes you look foolish and portrays you as just a jocker of the suddenly popular Houston style. Chamillionaire is very talented as an MC, but this CD is ruined by the less than stellar production. Cham is nice, don't get me wrong, but he needs to work more on synchronizing his flow to the beats he's on, as sometimes its horribly obvious how off the beat he is. Next time you write a review, you should be realistic and stop jocking a region who's popularity is the new fad. But, if you must be a Houston jocker, go with someone more talented next time (Bun B maybe?).

- Chamillionaire is amazing.
I haven't liked a mainstream rap album this long in quite awhile, and definitely not any from the South. Although this album definitely has Southern influences, it is not the 'crunk' garbage you hear all day on the radio. Chamillionaire is one of the most diverse albums in the mainstream, or in the underground. His lyrics are top-notch, and he, unlike most rappers, sounds wonderful when he sings. He sounds better than most R&B artists out in the singing department.
From start to finish, Chamillionaire solidifies himself as the best lyricist from the South. Whether he's getting dirty on banging tracks like "In The Trunk" and "Turn It Up," getting funky on tracks like "Grown & Sexy," or spilling his soul out on tracks like "Void In My Life" and "Rain"(which also features one of the South's best, Scarface), Chamillionaire keeps you listening with no skips. There are NO skits on this album, which is absolutely amazing.
The more times you listen to this album, the more you'll love it. Chamillionaire is one of the best lyricists in the game, but also has quite possibly the most infectious flow in the game. Even when he's tearing up a track aggressively, he doesn't miss a step. He's just that good.
Definitely purchase this album. One of my personal favorites.
