Personnel includes: Cam'Ron, Mase, Noreaga, Jermaine Dupri, Charli Baltimore (rap vocals); Kelly Price, Usher (vocals); Kenny Greene, Brotha.

Producers include: Darrell "Digga" Branch, Swizz Beatz, Tone & Poke.

Engineers include: Tony Black, Ted Wohlsen, Brian Frye.

In 1998, the likes of Mase and Lord Tariq & Peter Gunz officially put uptown (technically the Bronx and Harlem, NYC) back on the map. Introducing Cam'Ron, the first MC on Untertainment Records, one of the newest heavyweight hip-hop labels. With his debut album, CONFESSIONS OF FIRE, Cam'ron shows off his versatile skills, mastering a commercial yet street sound.

Songs like "357" and "Horse & Carriage" (which features Cam's close friend Mase) are definite club and radio bangers. Other joints, such as the lesson-teaching "D Rugs" and the touching "Prophecy," play with your mind, forcing listeners to think. With the secret lovers-themed "Wrong Ones," Cam'ron reveals his storytelling persona. And, of course, Cam'ron rounds out the album with hardcore cuts like "Glory" and "A Pimp's A Pimp."

- one track does it all
i'm telling you right now buy this album. the track "prophecy" featuring Kelly Price is the best and most powerful song ever. the hook by kelly is so catchy and cam'ron does clean, laid back rap over r+b background music. the song is worth buying the album. also tracks like "horse and carriage", and "me and my boo" are collecters too.

- HE COULD HAVE DONE MUCH BETTER
I KNOW CAM HAS MUCH MORE SKILLS THAN HE DISPLAYED ON HIS ALBUM. I THINK HE SHOULD'VE SPIT MORE SHIT LIKE ON GLORY, A PIMPS A PIMP, AND WHO'S NICE. I LIKE WHEN RAPPERS SPIT LYRICS THAT MAKE YOU WANNA GO BACK AND LISTEN TO IT OVER AND OVER. I WANNA BE ABLE TO BE AMAZED EVERYTIME I HEAR A RHYME. I EXPECTED A LOT MORE FROM HIM, BUT HE'S STILL ONE OF MY FAVORITE RAPPERS.

- 'Confessions of Fire' is not so hot afterall.........
This is the album, unfortunately, that I try so very hard to forget came from Cam'ron - but, what's done is done. After hearing the first single off the record, "Horse and Carriage," I wasn't too motivated to buy a copy, thinking that songs like that were what to expect from the CD. Despite my friends many arguments to look past the single because the album was "blazin'," I decided to borrow the CD and peep it. Not only was the record a waste of time, but I was enthused by the fact that Cam'ron was supposed to be an underground emcee, yet, the whole album was commercially drenched. The only joint I found worth listening to off the album was "Wrong Ones," but other than that 'Confessions of Fire' is the epitome of the new style of music nodding heads -- hip-pop, and oh boy, is it wack.
- My confessions (3 and 1/2)
Cam'ron's first single 357 showed that he had potential but his second single Horse & Carriage made people sleep on him and this album. Now this album is not great by any means but its decent at best. After a silly intro, the albums starts off with Glory(feat Noreaga) which is not bad. 357 was a great first single because Cam actually spit on that track. The track Death is hilarious because its Death teasing and taunting Cam'ron about his fear of dying. Confessions is Cam'ron giving the most ridiculous confession to a priest that you'll ever hear but this track is one of the better songs on the album. Cam'ron gives two honest attempts at songs of substance with Prophecy(feat Kelly Price) and D Rugs. On Prophecy, Cam'ron gets introspective plus Kelly Price on the chorus was a nice touch and D Rugs is Cam telling a story of how his mother was a addicted to drugs. Shanghai is a comical account of Cam'ron robbing a restaurant. There are songs that stop this album from being the great album it could have been. Horse & Carriage is garbage and why he thought Mase would have made this song better by being on the hook is beyond me. Both the Jermaine Dupri featured tracks, Rockin & Rollin and A Pimp's A Pimp are studio trash can material. We Got It is straight up filler. Cam also falls flat when he tries his hand at songs for the ladies like Me & My Boo(feat Charli Baltimore) and Feels Good(featuring Usher. Bottom Line: While Cam'ron's Confessions Of Fire is not the best album of 1998, its one of his best albums and is better than the hot garbage he has been putting out lately. Cam'ron's rhymes on certain tracks were better than the way he raps now. He blow this one out the water with S.D.E. though. Standout Tracks: GLORY, 357, WRONG ONES, DEATH, PROPHECY, D RUGS, CONFESSIONS, SHANGHAI and WHO'S NICE.

- The Second time's always a charm...
Cam'ron is way nicer than this. He shines on tracks like "Glory" and "Shanghai", But letting your moms rap on your debut? Save that for the established MC's. I think this cat needs to make up with Ma$e before he gets lost in this maze we call hip-hop.
