<p>No one ever wore the mantle of progressive hip-hop as effectively as Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. Combining sophisticated production techniques, gymnastic verbal abilities and a strong social conscience, Bone Thugs emerged from Cleveland as the true voice of the streets, setting a hip-hop standard hundreds of lesser acts would immediately follow. THE COLLECTION presents the most significant tracks from the Bone Thugs catalog, and the song selection is effective and representative. From the female chorus on "Foe Tha Love of Money" to the analog synth hooks of "1st of tha Month" the Bone Thugs gift for combining pop/R&B sensibilities with highly skilled raps is apparent. Fans will be pulled in by the bonus track "P.O.D.," but those unfamiliar with the Bone Thugs' work will find this a great place to begin.

- Hot to def
This is a great collection of Bone tracks. It has great laid-back Bone songs, more hardcore Bone songs, and Bone getting more personal. All in all it makes for a great collection to have. My fav songs on the album are Thuggish Ruggish Bone, 1st Of Tha Month, Crossroad (Original Mix), Body Rott, Notorious Thugs (best ever), Days Of Our Livez, War (Battlecry Remix). If you are a big fan or not, you will be bumpin' this Cd for some time like I was once you get it. I havent got Volume 2 but after this I think I'll go out and get it as soon as I can. If you like rap you'll want to have this so go get it now!

- Not a Greatest Hits...Simply A Collection
What do you get when you combine harcore street tales and a smooth melodic touch: Bone Thugs N Harmony.
"Foe Tha Love of $" is an old time Bone Thug classic that is a perfect example of gritty street rhymes and a harmonic flow. The Late Eazy-E even lends a hand to this young group at the time solidifying its true authenticity to the gangsta rap world. Krayzie Bone sums up the title of this song with this sole verse:
"...both on the mission for money, you give up the cash if that was your a** cause me and my homie was hungry"
Need anyone say anything more of "1st of Tha Month"
And how about "Shoot 'Em Up". This is a unreleased track, and I am so glad that they put it on this album. The Thugs magnificent word play and the strong bass line make this a cut that you can either listen to in your walkman while waitin for the bus, or cruise along to with your homies in your lowrider down the neighborhood.
There are only so many words that can describe the feeling when you load a disc into your cd player and know that once you hit the play button, the music doesn't stop untill the album is finished. No need for any fastfowarding here. With songs like "Notorious Thugs" w/Biggie Smalls to "Breakdown" w/Mariah Carey. The Collection Volume 1 has a little something for everyone. Whether you need a cut to pump you up "War" & "Body Rott" or you need something to calm you down and help you reminice "Dayz of our Livez" & "Crosroads". This album has it all.
Indeed this in no Greatest Hits album, as it is basically and simply a collection of songs that is necessary to have if you are any kind of Bone Thugs N Harmony fan. You can only wonder what thier "Greatest Hits" album will consist of...
