Indeed, six years after his death by gunfire, the 2Pac estate is still unveiling albums of remaining, lost, and unfinished recordings. However, NU-MIXX KLAZZICS is something a bit different.
For this release, rap mogul Suge Knight has gathered many popular tracks, (most of them from the epochal ALL EYEZ ON ME, the final record 2Pac would release during his life), lifted the vocal tracks, and furnished them with entirely new beats. To accentuate the remixes, special guests drop by to provide new vocals, including Aaron Hall, K-Ci & JoJo, and the Outlawz. NU-MIXX KLAZZICS offers fans a different perspective from which to view 2Pac's legacy, pairing the twisted, poetic lyrics of the prodigal genius with pared-down, dirtier, darker beats. For instance, "Hail Mary" is taken out of its original DON KILLUMINATI shell of church bells and tympanies and placed in a more sinister world of drones and sirens. 2Pac's legacy extends throughout the hip-hop world, and NU-MIXX KLAZZICS is yet another example of how much he had to offer.
Despite his brief existence, NYC-born rap legend Tupac Shakur left a thick musical catalogue that would shadow most rappers' lifetime work. - Worst remix ablum - EVER

This one's a big fat disappointment and obviously reeks of homies trying to 'cash in.'

In most cases, remix albums are usually a bit of a letdown in comparison to the original material but typically you can find at least 1 or 2 tracks that present an interesting twist on some beloved track or in some cases an outright improvement. In this instance Exec. Prod. Suge Knight collects 10 of Pac's biggest hits and absolutely butchers each and every track on the disc. Not a single track shows any hint of creative revisionism and the reworked beats are insultingly generic in comparison to the source material. Steer clear and far from this stinker.

- Leave the man alone.

Tupac and his memory need to be left alone. Death Row's only income comes from butchering tupac songs and making fun of Snoop and Dre. They have no real talent (except Kurupt)and any TRUE Tupac fan wouldn't think twice about buying this cd. Wait till records come out on his label, Amaru, to get old, untouched material.

- Pac Has To Be Turning In His Grave.... (1.5 Stars)

Here's my theory in regards to how one should rate a remix album: If a song is remixed, then that remix should be better than the original song. Otherwise, what's the point?

With that being said, Nu-Mixx Klazzics is pretty much pointless. This is nothing more than a cash in album. The people at Death Row/Koch know that folks will continue to buy Pac's music as long as you can manage to put a new spin on it (especially the die hards...they'll buy anything associated with the man). Well, the spin they put on this particular album is just plain terrible.

If you have the source material, stick with that. These "remixes" don't make the originals better, they actually make them worse. The beats sound like throw away beats from an old JT Tha Bigga Figga album and some of the lyrics have been altered/changed so that they sound updated (removing Snoop from "2 of Amerikka's Most..." and distorting Pac's vocals when he says his name is just terrible), but these changes are only for the worst. In short, all aspects of this album are sorry. The guests are wack and the beats are generic, hollow, "clubby" beats. Remember y'all, when these albums were dropped back in '96 the beats had more meat to them.

There is one decent track though. "Life Goes On" gets a different look and I'm not so sure that it's all that bad. I find it tolerable, but I could see why why someone wouldn't like it. But this is coming from someone that wasn't all that crazy about the original because I wasn't feeling the beat. If you enjoyed the original, then stick with that. Also, I like that the original version of "Hit 'Em Up" was used here. In this version, 'Pac can be heard giving props to east coast emcees that he was cool with (thus proving that he wasn't anti - east coast, just anti - Bad Boy).

Whoever gave the green light to have this released should be fired. It's a shame that folks are pimping Tupac's music like this. But they'll continue to do it as long as folks continue to buy it. I'm drawing the line here. Shame on you, Suge. Your label isn't relevant anymore, get over it and move on.
